Petralon names new COO amid Dawes Island production growth

July 06, 2026

(WO) — Petralon Energy has appointed Augustine Ekeigwe as chief operating officer, strengthening its operational leadership as the Nigerian independent expands production at its Dawes Island Field and pursues additional upstream growth opportunities.

The appointment comes as Petralon transitions into a new phase of production following the startup of its DI-3 well earlier this year, which increased output at the Dawes Island Field to approximately 4,800 bopd. The company has also exported more than 350,000 bbl of crude through the Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal, about 30 km from the field.

Petralon said Ekeigwe will oversee operational execution across its asset portfolio, with responsibility for ensuring safe and efficient production as the company continues to scale operations and evaluate new acquisition opportunities.

Ekeigwe brings more than 25 years of oil and gas industry experience across Europe and West Africa, with expertise spanning production operations, field development, drilling and completions, reservoir surveillance, asset integrity and production optimization.

He previously held senior technical and operational leadership positions at Oriental Energy Resources, Seplat Petroleum Development Company, Shell Petroleum Development Company, and Sakhalin Energy, where he managed producing assets through development and production growth.

Petralon said the appointment supports its long-term strategy to expand production and operations as it works toward its goal of exceeding 15,000 bopd by 2030.
