KONGSBERG wins contract to protect critical offshore infrastructure
(WO) — KONGSBERG has been awarded a contract to provide underwater surveillance and protection technology for critical infrastructure, supporting the security of offshore energy assets and other essential facilities for an undisclosed international customer.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The project will focus on underwater surveillance and infrastructure protection, reflecting growing demand for technologies designed to safeguard offshore assets, subsea cables, ports and other critical infrastructure against physical and cyber threats.
"Preventing and detecting threats and attacks are essential to protect people and critical infrastructure," said Eirik Lie, president and CEO of KONGSBERG. "KONGSBERG has the solutions and technology to support countries and industries in their efforts to build resilient systems and maintain operations."
According to the company, the project will integrate technologies that provide situational awareness, monitoring, inspection, surveillance and response capabilities across underwater and aerial domains to support time-critical decision making.
"The contract underpins how the market for infrastructure protection is evolving from recognizing the need to implementing the right solutions," said Camilla Kiss, president of KONGSBERG Discovery.
The award comes as governments and offshore operators continue to increase investment in protecting subsea energy infrastructure amid heightened geopolitical tensions and growing concerns over the security of offshore installations and underwater networks.
