Baker Hughes extends long-term service deal for Nigeria LNG Train 7
(WO) — Baker Hughes has secured a 13-year lifecycle services agreement with Nigeria LNG (NLNG) to support turbomachinery operations at the company's Train 7 expansion project on Bonny Island.
The agreement extends a more than 20-year relationship between the companies and will provide long-term support for equipment installed as part of the expansion, which is expected to increase the plant's LNG production capacity from 22 MMtpa to 30 MMtpa.
The scope covers four Baker Hughes heavy-duty gas turbines, associated centrifugal compressors and two additional gas turbines for power generation that were awarded under a 2021 equipment contract. The agreement also includes remote monitoring and diagnostics through Baker Hughes' digital services platform, along with support from a local engineering team based in Nigeria.
"Utilizing Baker Hughes' industry-leading lifecycle services and digital expertise will help support the successful long-term operation of our Train 7 project," said Adeleye Falade, managing director and chief executive officer of Nigeria LNG.
Baker Hughes said work under the agreement will be delivered through its service center in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
Maria Claudia Borras, Baker Hughes' chief growth and experience officer and interim executive vice president of Industrial & Energy Technology, said the agreement reinforces the company's long-standing partnership with NLNG and will help support efficient and reliable operations as Nigeria expands its LNG production capacity.
Train 7 is a key component of Nigeria's strategy to expand LNG exports, increasing total production capacity at the Bonny Island liquefaction facility by approximately 35% to 30 MMtpa upon completion.
