SLB, Vår Energi expand digital field development planning offshore Norway
(WO) — SLB and Vår Energi are expanding their digital collaboration across the Norwegian Continental Shelf as the companies work to accelerate well planning and integrated field development activities for offshore projects.
Under the expanded agreement, Vår Energi will deploy SLB’s Delfi digital platform across workflows spanning exploration, subsurface evaluation, well planning, subsea design, field development planning and production operations.
The companies said the cloud-based environment is intended to improve collaboration between technical disciplines, reduce workflow handoffs and shorten planning timelines for offshore developments, including marginal subsea tiebacks.
According to SLB, collaborative well planning workflows already in use have reduced planning cycle times from months to days, with integrated field development planning expected to deliver similar efficiencies.
“As offshore developments become more complex, performance increasingly depends on how quickly teams can align, evaluate options and make decisions using trusted data,” said Rakesh Jaggi, president of SLB’s digital business.
The companies said the expanded deployment reflects broader industry efforts to improve project execution and sustain production from mature offshore assets through digital integration and standardized workflows.
Vår Energi continues to advance multiple development projects and subsea tieback opportunities offshore Norway as operators across the Norwegian Continental Shelf focus on reducing time to first oil and maximizing recovery from existing infrastructure.
SLB said the integrated planning environment is designed to support faster decision-making from early exploration through development and production phases.
