Subsea7 wins Goliat gas export contract offshore Norway

May 22, 2026

(WO) — Subsea7 has secured a substantial contract from Vår Eneri for the Goliat Gas Export Project in the Barents Sea offshore Norway.

The project will enable gas exports from the Goliat field to the Hammerfest LNG facility on Melkøya Island through the existing Snøhvit pipeline system.

Under the contract, Subsea7 will perform engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) work for a 12.7-km, 10-inch uninsulated carbon steel pipeline along with associated subsea infrastructure tied to the gas export system.

According to the company, project management and engineering activities will begin immediately from Subsea7’s Stavanger office, while offshore installation operations are scheduled for 2027 and 2028.

Subsea7 classifies the award as a “substantial” contract, valued between $150 million and $300 million.

“We are proud to be awarded the Goliat Gas Export Project, which represents the first contract awarded under our new strategic partnership agreement with Vår Eneri,” said Erik Femsteinevik, vice president for Subsea7 Norway.

The award follows a strategic collaboration agreement signed earlier this year between Vår Eneri, Subsea7 and OneSubsea focused on offshore project execution and subsea development work on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The Goliat development remains one of the Barents Sea’s key producing offshore assets and forms part of broader efforts to strengthen northern Norway’s offshore gas export infrastructure.
