Ned Marine adds subsea ROV and aerial drone inspections to NDT portfolio
(WO) — Ned Marine has expanded its non-destructive testing (NDT) capabilities with the launch of drone and subsea remotely operated vehicle (ROV) inspection services aimed at offshore, marine and industrial assets.
The Dutch inspection specialist said the new services are designed to improve inspection efficiency while reducing operational downtime and personnel exposure in hazardous or difficult-to-access environments.
The company’s aerial drone inspection systems support visual inspections and ultrasonic thickness measurements in confined or elevated areas where conventional access methods such as scaffolding, rope access or diving operations are typically required. Target applications include ballast tanks, cargo holds, offshore and onshore wind structures, storage tanks and industrial installations.
According to Ned Marine, drone-based inspections can reduce inspection times by as much as four times compared with traditional approaches while significantly lowering costs and operational disruption for vessel operators.
In addition to aerial inspections, the company has introduced subsea NDT inspection services using ROV systems capable of operating in water depths up to 300 m. The systems provide live high-definition video and inspection data for hull surveys, cathodic protection assessments, structural monitoring and pre-docking inspections.
“We are very proud to launch this new service,” said Leo Zwagemaker, commercial manager at Ned Marine. “By integrating aerial drone and ROV technology into our NDT services, we can allow our clients to further reduce downtime and make better-informed maintenance decisions.”
Zwagemaker added that the technology also enables inspectors to work remotely using real-time operational data, improving coordination between vessel operators, surveyors and technical teams.
Ned Marine said the new drone and ROV services are fully integrated into its broader NDT portfolio, which includes visual testing, ultrasonic thickness measurements and inspection reporting services.
