Baker Hughes teams with DTEK to expand Ukraine gas production capacity
(WO) — DTEK Oil&Gas has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Baker Hughes aimed at increasing natural gas production in Ukraine and strengthening domestic energy supply.
The agreement outlines cooperation between the companies to deploy advanced technologies and expand development of Ukraine’s gas resources. Ukraine holds an estimated 1.1 Tcm of proven natural gas reserves, among the largest in Europe, providing significant potential for increased domestic production.
DTEK, the country’s largest private gas producer, will contribute local operational expertise, while Baker Hughes will provide technology and services to support drilling and production activities. The companies said the collaboration is intended to improve efficiency, accelerate development and expand the use of advanced technologies across Ukrainian assets.
The MOU was signed during CERAWeek in Houston and builds on an existing relationship between the two companies. DTEK Oil&Gas previously entered into a master services agreement with Baker Hughes covering directional drilling, drill bit services and other high-technology operations.
The partnership comes as Ukraine and broader European markets seek to strengthen energy security by increasing domestic supply and reducing reliance on imports. Expanding local gas production is expected to play a key role in improving supply resilience and supporting regional energy needs.
DTEK said the collaboration will focus on unlocking additional value from Ukraine’s resource base while enhancing operational performance across its portfolio.
