(WO) — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz was recognized by the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO) for his support of policies aimed at strengthening the domestic oil and gas industry.
Cruz received TIPRO’s 2026 Hats Off Award during the association’s annual convention in Houston, where industry leaders highlighted his role in advancing legislation tied to energy production and exports.
TIPRO said Cruz has prioritized oil and natural gas issues during his time in office, including efforts to expand LNG exports and limit regulatory burdens on domestic producers.
"On behalf of TIPRO and its members, we are pleased to present our Hats Off Award this year to Senator Cruz for his leadership in Congress and his longstanding support of the oil and gas industry," said Ed Longanecker, president of TIPRO. "Since he was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012, Senator Cruz has authored key legislation that is helping to secure our energy future and ensure American energy independence. In his time in office, the senator has made oil and natural gas issues a priority. Notably, he has also worked to defend our industry from burdensome federal regulations and government overreach that undermines domestic energy production, job creation and our national energy security, particularly during the Biden Administration. Senator Cruz truly understands the importance of energy production to the Texas economy and how essential energy independence for the United States is."
Cruz has backed several measures in Congress, including proposals to expand natural gas exports and support LNG infrastructure development, as part of a broader push to strengthen U.S. energy security.
"I was honored to receive the Hats Off Award from the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association," Cruz said. "I’m proud to stand with the men and women that fuel Texas energy and empower American energy dominance.”
The recognition comes as U.S. policymakers continue to debate the role of oil and gas in meeting domestic demand while maintaining global energy competitiveness.
