TotalEnergies, TPAO sign exploration MoU for Black Sea opportunities in Türkiye
(WO) — TotalEnergies and Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to evaluate oil and gas exploration opportunities in Türkiye’s Black Sea and other international areas.
The agreement establishes a framework for technical collaboration between the two companies, including joint assessment of prospective acreage and the application of combined subsurface and exploration expertise.
The Black Sea has emerged as a key exploration focus for Türkiye following recent gas discoveries, and the partnership is expected to support further evaluation of the basin’s resource potential. The companies may also explore additional opportunities outside Türkiye under the terms of the agreement.
TotalEnergies said the collaboration will leverage the technical capabilities of both organizations to identify and mature exploration prospects on a mutually beneficial basis.
The agreement reflects continued interest in the Black Sea as an emerging upstream region, as operators seek to expand resource development and strengthen regional energy supply.
