TotalEnergies confirms offshore Congo discovery at Moho license, eyes tie-back

April 13, 2026

(WO) — TotalEnergies has confirmed a hydrocarbon discovery on the Moho license offshore the Republic of the Congo, following drilling of the MHNM-6 NFW exploration well targeting the Moho G structure.

The well encountered a hydrocarbon column of approximately 160 m in Albian reservoirs, with data acquisition and fluid sampling completed to support further subsurface evaluation. The results will be used to assess reservoir characteristics and inform development planning.

The Moho G discovery, together with a previous find at the nearby Moho F structure, is estimated to contain close to 100 MMbbl of recoverable resources. The volumes are expected to be developed through a subsea tie-back to existing Moho production infrastructure.

TotalEnergies operates the license with a 63.5% interest, alongside Trident Energy (21.5%) and Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (SNPC, 15%). The Moho field is currently supported by two floating production units, Alima and Likouf, with combined output of approximately 90,000 boed.

The discovery highlights continued exploration activity in offshore Congo, where operators are targeting near-field opportunities that can be developed through existing infrastructure to accelerate time to production and reduce costs.
