ABL, PMS partner on rig moving services for Egypt offshore operations

April 13, 2026

(WO) - ABL has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Petroleum Marine Services (PMS) to provide offshore rig moving support and marine assurance services in Egypt.

Under the agreement, ABL will support PMS on a call-off basis, delivering technical services for rig moves and offshore operations. The scope includes rig inspections, dynamic positioning (DP) assurance, marine warranty survey and engineering support, as well as consulting on critical systems and offshore risk management.

The partnership builds on earlier collaboration between the two companies, including the introduction of a unified rig moving service in the Red Sea and Gulf of Suez. The combined offering is intended to support drilling operations with integrated technical and marine services.

ABL said its Egypt-based operations will play a key role in delivering services locally, drawing on its broader experience supporting rig moves globally. The company provides support for more than 1,300 rig moves annually, including tow master services, vessel inspections and technical studies such as leg penetration assessments and site-specific analyses.

PMS, a subsidiary of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), provides offshore construction and services across Egypt and the region.

The agreement reflects continued activity in Egypt’s offshore sector, where operators are seeking to improve operational efficiency and safety across rig mobilization and drilling campaigns.
