INNIO, Rehlko scale gas engine supply to meet data center, grid demand
(WO) - INNIO Group has signed a multi-year framework agreement with Rehlko to supply up to 1.25 GW of gas engine capacity, targeting growing demand from data centers and flexible power generation projects.
The agreement, which spans the next three years, expands Rehlko’s existing firm reservation of 700 MW and secures long-term access to INNIO’s gas engine technology for deployment across global markets.
The capacity is expected to support a range of applications, including backup and primary power for data centers, as well as grid stabilization and distributed generation projects. Demand for such systems has increased alongside rapid growth in data center infrastructure and the need for flexible, dispatchable power to complement intermittent renewable energy sources.
Rehlko will deliver projects through its engineering and services platform, Clarke Energy, which has a longstanding relationship with INNIO and supports a global installed base exceeding 10 GW.
The agreement provides supply certainty in a market experiencing sustained growth driven by digital infrastructure expansion and rising power demand. A significant portion of the capacity is expected to be allocated to hyperscale and colocation data center developments, as well as enterprise operators expanding existing facilities.
Gas engine technology continues to play a role in distributed energy systems, offering flexible generation that can be deployed quickly to support reliability and resilience in evolving power markets.
