Borr Drilling downs crews on Gulf jackups after regional hostilities

March 09, 2026

(WO) - Borr Drilling Ltd. reported operational disruptions to several of its jackup rigs in the Arabian Gulf following recent regional hostilities, with precautionary measures leading to reduced staffing and a temporary rig shutdown.

The company said three of its rigs operating in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have been down-manned since last week in line with precautionary measures implemented by customers. Borr Drilling currently has four jackup rigs deployed in the region, including one in Saudi Arabia, one in the UAE and two in Qatar.

On March 7, the jackup Arabia III was affected by an incident on a customer-operated platform. The rig was safely shut down and all personnel were evacuated without injury, according to the company.

Borr Drilling CEO Bruno Morand said all employees and crew members in the region are accounted for and safe, adding that operations will remain on standby until conditions allow a safe return to activity. The rigs remain under contract and insured, and the company said it continues to monitor developments and coordinate closely with customers and regional stakeholders.
