March 31, 2026

(WO) - Golden Pass LNG has achieved first LNG from Train 1 at its Sabine Pass, Texas facility, marking a major milestone in expanding U.S. liquefied natural gas export capacity.

The project, delivered by a joint venture between McDermott and Chiyoda, has completed construction and commissioning of the first of three planned liquefaction trains. Startup operations are now underway, with Train 1 beginning to contribute to global LNG supply.

The Golden Pass development is one of the largest LNG export projects under construction in North America and is expected to play a significant role in meeting growing international demand for natural gas, particularly in Europe and Asia.

With Train 1 online, the project moves closer to full operational capacity, as construction and commissioning activities continue on Trains 2 and 3. Once complete, Golden Pass is expected to materially increase U.S. LNG export volumes, reinforcing the country’s position as a leading global supplier.

The startup comes amid heightened demand for reliable gas supply, driven by geopolitical disruptions and shifting energy security priorities. New LNG capacity additions, such as Golden Pass, are seen as critical to balancing global markets and supporting long-term supply stability.
