Tenaris awarded ultra-deepwater contracts for Phase 3 of Türkiye’s Sakarya gas development

February 03, 2026

(WO) - Tenaris has secured two new contracts from Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) to support Phase 3 development of the Sakarya Gas Project, Türkiye’s flagship offshore gas project in the Black Sea.

The awards advance work on one of the region’s most technically demanding upstream developments, located in water depths of approximately 2,150 m, about 170 km offshore Türkiye. Phase 3 is focused on scaling production and extending the field’s development footprint as Sakarya transitions from initial output toward sustained offshore gas supply.

Under the contracts, Tenaris will provide integrated tubular and pipeline solutions required for flow assurance, drilling and production infrastructure in an ultra-deepwater environment.

Tenaris will also supply offshore drilling casing for the project, including volumes coated with its Dopeless® dry-lubricant technology, aimed at improving running efficiency and safety during drilling operations in deepwater conditions.

“We are pleased to continue our collaboration with TPAO on their most technically demanding offshore project to date,” said Olga Volkova, Tenaris commercial senior director for Eastern Europe and the Caspian Sea. “Tenaris’s offshore solutions enhance efficiency and safety by providing run-ready pipes without entering the rig floor red zone.”

The contracts will be executed under Tenaris’s One Line® service model, integrating pipe manufacturing with coating and delivery to streamline execution and reduce offshore installation risk—an increasingly important factor as Sakarya moves into more complex development phases.

The Sakarya field represents a cornerstone of Türkiye’s offshore gas strategy, and Phase 3 development is expected to play a key role in expanding production capacity while addressing the operational challenges associated with ultra-deepwater drilling and long-distance subsea infrastructure.
