Akrake Petroleum completes production well at Sèmè field offshore Benin

February 03, 2026

Akrake Petroleum Benin S.A., an indirect subsidiary of Rex International Holding Limited, has completed drilling of the AK-2H horizontal production well at the Sèmè field offshore Benin.

The well intersected approximately 1,405 m of horizontal section, including about 950 m of oil-saturated sandstone within the Abeokuta Formation of Cretaceous age. No water-bearing sands were encountered, and reservoir quality was reported to be in line with expectations, with average porosity exceeding 19% and oil saturation above 70%.

The reservoir section has been completed with sand control screens equipped with autonomous inflow control valves (AICVs) to manage water production and optimize oil recovery. Installation of a downhole electric submersible pump (ESP) above the screens is underway.

Meanwhile, final hook-up work continues on the mobile offshore production unit (MOPU) and floating storage and offloading unit (FSO) in preparation for production startup.
