Siemens expands digital twin, AI platforms for energy operators
At CES 2026, Siemens unveiled a suite of industrial artificial intelligence technologies aimed at accelerating digitalization across energy, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors, including upstream oil and gas operations. The announcements build on Siemens’ long-standing focus on digital twins, automation and data-driven decision-making for complex industrial assets.
Central to the update is an expanded partnership with NVIDIA to develop what Siemens described as an Industrial AI Operating System, designed to embed AI across the full lifecycle of industrial facilities—from design and engineering through operations and maintenance. Siemens said the platform will combine simulation, real-time operational data and AI models to enable faster optimization and more resilient asset performance.
For asset-intensive industries, Siemens highlighted the launch of Digital Twin Composer, expected to be available in mid-2026. The software integrates high-fidelity digital twins with real-time engineering data, allowing operators to simulate facility modifications, environmental conditions and operational changes before execution. Siemens said the technology is intended to support large-scale infrastructure, including energy facilities, pipelines and industrial plants, where capital efficiency and risk reduction are critical.
Siemens also introduced a set of AI-powered industrial copilots that span engineering, compliance, manufacturing and operations software platforms. These tools are designed to assist engineers and operators with tasks such as navigating complex datasets, validating designs, managing regulatory requirements and improving operational efficiency—areas that are increasingly relevant for upstream developments facing tighter cost controls and regulatory scrutiny.
Company executives said the technologies are aimed at shortening project timelines, improving predictability and reducing capital and operating costs across energy and industrial value chains. Siemens indicated that its industrial AI portfolio will be deployed through the Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem, with early applications already underway in energy-related projects and advanced infrastructure developments.
