Permian to Gulf Coast pipeline a win for energy reliance, says Texas regulator

Following approval of the 450-mile Eiger Express Pipeline project connecting the Permian basin to Gulf Coast markets, Texas Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian issued a statement of support, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure in meeting energy demand.

“Texas, America, and the rest of the world have been starving for more reliable energy on demand, and I’m excited industry is finally heeding that call with more infrastructure,” said Commissioner Christian. “As demand for natural gas grows at home and in LNG export markets overseas, this pipeline will help Texas remain the global leader in reliable energy. It means cheaper costs for hardworking Americans, increasing opportunities for Texas workers, and a more secure nation.”

Last year, Commissioner Christian convened the Lone Star Growth Summit with state agencies and industry leaders to examine Texas’ long-term infrastructure needs. With the population expected to nearly double to 54 million by 2050, Christian stressed the importance of building pipelines, power generation, refining, and water projects to keep pace with growth.

“The world runs on fossil fuels—and natural gas is the bridge to our future. It keeps the lights on, lowers emissions, and strengthens America’s role as an energy superpower,” Christian added. “Pipelines like this don’t just move gas—they move jobs, security, and prosperity. We need more of them—both energy and water—to meet the needs of a rapidly growing Texas.”

Christian contrasted this success with federal policy:

“For the last four years, the Biden White House waged war on American energy—killing pipelines, blocking permits, and driving up costs. President Trump reversed that damage, streamlined regulations, and gave producers the certainty to invest in infrastructure like this pipeline.”
