UK's Vulcan Completions joins with Sudelac to improve float equipment standards

May 26, 2025

UK-based Vulcan Completion Products has partnered with Sudelac Limited under an IP license agreement to offer advanced pressure and load testing for float equipment using the patented FloatCHECKER PT system.

This new service ensures float equipment is tested after manufacturing but before deployment, addressing a critical industry gap. Current API standards do not require post-manufacture testing, leaving operators at risk of using unverified components. By providing comprehensive testing, Vulcan aims to improve safety, reliability, and well integrity for operators around the world.

Industry feedback and research have highlighted the risks associated with cheaper, lower-quality float equipment, including increased chances of failure and compromised safety. Vulcan’s Float Equipment Assurance service provides a solution, offering testing for both new and third-party inventory to help prevent issues before they occur.

The partnership with Sudelac enhances Vulcan’s ability to deliver verified, high-quality float equipment globally—backed by advanced testing and proven performance.

Since 2023, Vulcan has grown its global team by 50%, now employing over 40 people across key regions.

From its headquarters in Westhill, Aberdeenshire, Vulcan continues to drive innovation in float equipment and related technologies, supported by an ISO 9001-accredited R&D hub and a team with over 200 years of combined experience.
