Perenco completes 12-well drilling campaign at Chad’s Badila field

December 01, 2025

Perenco subsidiary PetroChad Mangara (PCM) has completed a 12-well drilling program at the Badila field in southern Chad, marking a key phase in the operator’s multi-year effort to restore and expand output across its onshore portfolio.

The campaign included eight horizontal development wells targeting Upper Cretaceous reservoirs, three water-disposal wells and one appraisal well. PCM also installed four gas turbines to increase onsite power supply and upgraded processing facilities to handle higher production volumes.

Following the program, combined output from the Badila and Mangara fields has risen above 18,000 bopd—exceeding the initial post-restart goal of 16,000 bopd set when Perenco resumed operations three years ago. The GWDC rig has now mobilized to PCM’s Krim development in the Doba Basin for an additional eight-well campaign.

PCM General Manager Eric Josseron said the drilling results and production uplift represent “an important operational milestone,” noting close coordination with Chad’s Ministry of Hydrocarbons and state operator SHT.

Perenco acquired PetroChad Mangara in 2022 and has since focused on stabilizing production and modernizing field operations. The company also continues community programs in the Moundou region, including electrification projects, hospital support and local workforce development.
