Gulf Energy Excellence Awards nominations close Saturday, July 15

(WO) – Time is running out to submit nominations for this year’s Gulf Energy Excellence awards. The nomination portal will close at 11:59 PM on July 15th, 2023.

The Gulf Energy Excellence Awards combines the prestigious award programs of World Oil, Pipeline & Gas Journal, Hydrocarbon Processing and Petroleum Economist in a single black-tie event, taking place at the Post Oak Hotel in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday, October 11th, 2023.

The program will unite upstream, midstream and downstream industry leaders to celebrate innovative, forward thinkers bringing cutting-edge technological advancements to the energy sector. Open categories include:

Technology Awards 

Best catalyst technology: This award recognizes the best implementation and innovative use of catalyst technology for an improved product.  

Best petrochemical technology: This award recognizes advancements in process technologies within the petrochemicals sector. 

Best digital transformation – Upstream, midstream, downstream: The award recognizes the importance of digital transformation solutions in the areas of integration, automation, data management and collaboration. 

Best completions technology:  This award recognizes the leading solution that provided a substantial impact on the industry’s completions. These include innovation, reliability, commercial application and industry impact. 

Best deepwater technology: This award recognizes significant technology in the area of drilling completions & production in deep water. This is the best innovative technology applicable to deep water applications. 

Best oil field fluids and chemicals:  This award recognizes an innovative drilling, completion or production fluid or an additive or chemical that was introduced commercially within the last year. This category includes stimulation or treatment chemicals for production enhancement.  

Best drilling technology: This award will go to the company which executed an industry-leading effort during the year that had a significant impact on the industry through drilling innovation either onshore or offshore. 

Best EOR technology: This award category recognizes all types of secondary and tertiary recovery used to assist the production from oil and gas wells.

Best exploration technology: This award is given to the leading acquisition technology or  algorithm/processing technology introduced during the year. 

Best production technology: This award which recognizes a newly introduced production program or solution utilized during the year that allowed an operator to effectively manage and maximize production. 

Best coating/corrosion advancement technology: This award recognizes an advancement made during the year in the area of coating and corrosion prevention that extends the life and safety of infrastructure. 

Best controls, instrumentation, automation technology: (all streams) The best use of controls, instrumentation or automation to optimize operations, safety and/or profitability, whether that be on a drill rig or production platform, pipeline or hydrocarbon processing facility (refinery, petrochemical or gas processing/LNG plant).  

Best modeling technology: This award recognizes the best use of modeling/simulation software to optimize plant design and/or engineering for increased safety, efficiency and/or profitability.

Corporate awards

Operator of the year - Upstream, midstream, downstream: This award recognizes operator achievement in all areas of the oil and gas industry in various aspects of operation, including safety, profitability, production and sustainability, among others. 

Energy leader of the year: An individual who has made an outstanding contribution to their organization and field, demonstrating excellent leadership and ambassadorial skills, making a demonstrable impact to the bottom-line and has shown creativity and developed talent. 

Large-cap energy firm of the year (Market capitalisation of $10bn+): A flag-bearer for the industry, showing adaptability, strategic excellence, smart use of capital, continuous innovation and a commitment to safety.  

Mid/Small-cap energy firm of the year (Market capitalisation of <$10bn) +): A flag-bearer for the industry, showing adaptability, strategic excellence, smart use of capital, continuous innovation and a commitment to safety. 

Energy finance provider of the year: A bank/financial institution that has shown outstanding performance in the energy sector, with an innovative approach, adapting to the changing needs of the sector and achieving results. 

Energy advisory of the year: A professional advisory company serving the energy industry, such as a consultancy or advisory firm or accountancy that has delivered material strategic or operational advice, demonstrable improvement in client performance and boasts a competitive edge. 

Energy legal services provider of the year: A legal firm offering services and advice to clients in the energy sector that anticipates and solves problems, executes flawlessly and goes beyond being just a lawyer. 

People awards 

Lifetime achievement – Upstream, midstream, downstream: This award honors an individual in each industry sector who has made both significant strides and impacted the oil and gas industry throughout their career and whose individual legacy continues to have an impact. 

Most promising engineer – Upstream, midstream, downstream: This award will recognize the young engineers that will be the future leaders of the oil and gas industry.  

Energy leader of the year: An individual who has made an outstanding contribution to their organization and field, demonstrating excellent leadership and ambassadorial skills, making a demonstrable impact to the bottom-line and has shown creativity and developed talent. 

DE&I in energy: This award will recognize a company that is adopting a systematic, business-led approach to diversity, equity and inclusion within their organization, and who have created long-lasting programs to encourage and ensure an inclusive culture.  

Project awards 

CCS/CCUS project of the year: This award recognizes an advancement made during the year in the area of carbon capture, use and storage, recognizing technical progress, development and innovation in the field.  

Energy project of the year – Upstream, midstream, downstream: This award recognizes the best in capital projects in the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors and focuses on significance, safety and best practices.  

HSE award 

Best Health, safety or environmental contribution – Upstream, midstream, downstream: This award is presented to a company that has made significant strides in protecting and enhancing the environment where it operates. Whether through technical innovations, implementation of new standards and processes, or introduction of social and economic development efforts, the winner of this category in each of the industry sectors will have a program that made a marked improvement in an HSE/sustainable development endeavor.
