Trillion Energy begins drilling well offshore Turkey after equipment delays halt operations nearby

World Oil Staff February 14, 2023

(WO) – Trillion Energy International Inc. has begun drilling its West Akcakcoa-1 (WA-1) well at the SASB gas field offshore Turkey. In late 2022, Trillion Energy drilled a 1,008 m of surface hole. Due to equipment delays to the company’s Guluc-2 well, the company has decided to focus on reaching total depth at the WA-1 well.

Guluc-2 is the third well in Trillion’s multi-well program, which reached total depth (TD) on Jan. 31. The company initially anticipated perforation and flow testing last week; however, completion has been temporarily delayed while Trillion awaits delivery of well tools to allow the perforation guns to be properly conveyed and positioned into the well.

Shipping issues due to the earthquakes caused delays in receiving certain tools, but we are expecting to receive the tools later this week. Once drilling of WA-1 is complete, both WA-1 and Guluc-2 wells will be perforated for production.
