Neptune Energy begins drilling at German gas production well

World Oil Staff January 24, 2023

(WO) – Neptune Energy has begun drilling at its 100% owned Adorf Z18 gas production well in Georgdorf, northwestern Germany. KCA Deutag, who is drilling the well, expects to reach a final depth of roughly 4,700 m by June 2023.

The Adorf Carboniferous field development represents Neptune Energy’s desire to grow business in Germany. This is an important step for the country’s energy sector, as the Adorf field provides enough gas to heat “more than 100,000 households,” according to Neptune Energy’s Managing Director Andreas Scheck.

Adorf Carboniferous gas field history

The Adorf Carboniferous gas field was discovered in 2020. The first well - Adorf Z15 - was brought into production in October the same year.

A second well - Adorf Z16 - increased Neptune’s production from the license to around 4,000 boepd at the beginning of 2022. The third well - Adorf Z17 - reached its final depth at the end of 2022 and will be tested for production this quarter.

Construction continues for a modern natural gas treatment plant for resources from Adorf Z17 and Z18.
