HOUSTON -- Korean Prime Minister Nak-yon Lee attended the 2019 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) at NRG Park on Wednesday, 8 May, further emphasizing the global reach of the offshore energy industry.

“It was an honor to welcome Prime Minister Lee and have him experience everything that OTC has to offer,” OTC Board of Directors Chairman Wafik Beydoun said. “His presence symbolizes the importance and impact of our conference as well as the global presence of attendees from more than 100 countries.

In fact, a new OTC program at this year’s conference is the Around the World Series, where global industry leaders discuss new licensing and business opportunities and recently introduced technologies.

“Developments such as digitalization, automation and machine learning are rapidly changing the industry, not to mention the introduction of marine renewables, which are sure to impact the diversity of the energy portfolio for years to come,” Beydoun said. “OTC is a place where global leaders as well as industry professionals come to collaborate for the benefit of the entire offshore energy industry. We were very pleased to have Prime Minister Lee here for our 50th anniversary.”

Since 1969, leaders in offshore energy have come to OTC to make critical decisions, share ideas and develop business partnerships to meet global energy demands. OTC remains the premier event in the offshore sector where energy professionals meet to advance scientific and technical knowledge.

OTC’s focus this year—its golden anniversary—is towards the next 50 years of offshore developments. More than 2,200 global companies displayed cutting-edge technologies, and offshore E&P executives provided their vision for preparing for the next 50 years.
