Fairfield Geotechnologies embarks on Quail Ridge East survey

August 24, 2018

HOUSTON -- Fairfield Geotechnologies announces its newest multi-client project in Lea County, New Mexico. Quail Ridge East is one of three ongoing surveys that extends Fairfield Geotechnologies’ data portfolio in the northern Delaware basin. The survey, supported with industry prefunding, is the first in a regional area of mutual interest with TGS aimed at providing an additional 2,000 mi2 of data between the Delaware basin and Central basin platform.

The 284-mi2 survey has been designed with denser node coverage and tighter vibrator spacing to provide densely sampled and high fold subsurface coverage. The improved acquisition parameters and Fairfield Geotechnologies’ QI compliant processing sequence are specifically designed to address imaging problems caused by a complex near surface geology in this region. As well, Fairfield Geotechnologies anticipates a reduction in overall processing time due to a recent transition to cloud computing.

“We are continuing to improve our position in this prolific region,” says Joe Dryer, senior V.P. and CSO of Fairfield Geotechnologies. “The ability to seamlessly tie this survey to our existing database and the strength of the strategic partnership with TGS allow us to offer our clients a broader library of data.”

Acquisition on the Quail Ridge East survey has commenced and will be performed by Dawson Geophysical. Fairfield Geotechnologies anticipates PSTM and PSDM data volumes will be available in early 2019.
