ABERDEEN -- Sparrows Group has signed a five-year blanket order with Pemex Procurement International, Inc. acting on behalf of Pemex Exploracion y Produccion (PEP) to service 41 of its cranes situated on assets in four of the Mexican national oil company’s developments in the region.

As the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), the first cranes were delivered by Sparrows in the early 1990s to support production in the Kumaza (AS01-02), Abkatun (AS02-03), Litoral (AS02-04) de Tabasco and Cantarell (AS01-01) fields.

Mexico is currently the third-largest oil producer in the Americas after the United States and Canada.

Sparrows will supply specialist technical personnel and has already commenced essential maintenance, inspection and upgrading work to ensure the cranes continue to operate safely and efficiently.

The work will be supported by a team of Sparrows’ experienced engineers who specialize in mechanical, hydraulic, structural, automation, control, electrical and integrity disciplines.

In addition, the firm will also supply all certified OEM components from its dedicated international parts department in Houston, Texas.
