Statoil receives consent to use Songa Endurance for drilling, completion at Troll field


STAVANGER -- Statoil has received consent to use the Songa Endurance mobile drilling facility for drilling and completion at Troll field.

Drilling is scheduled to begin in mid-October 2017.

The operation is expected to last for around 84 days.

Songa Endurance is a semisubmersible drilling facility. The facility received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) on Dec. 17, 2015. Troll field is located around 65 km west of Kollsnes in Hordaland County, and is the largest gas discovery made in the North Sea. PSA have now granted consent to use Songa Endurance on Troll field in accordance with Statoil's application.
