Lamprell delivers second jackup to Greatship Group
DUBAI -- Lamprell has announced the completion of construction on a further jackup rig, the Greatdrill Chaaru, and its delivery to Greatship Global Energy Services Pte. Ltd.
Construction of the rig was undertaken on a fast-track basis, and completion was achieved in only 18 months after the initial steel cutting.
The naming ceremony was held at Lamprell’s Hamriyah facility in the UAE on Feb. 9, and the rig will sail to its drilling location in India within the next few days.
The rig will join its sister vessel, the Greatdrill Chaaya, which Lamprell delivered in January 2013. Both rigs are contracted to work for Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) offshore India.
Greatdrill Chaaru has been designed according to the LeTourneau Super 116E (Enhanced) Class design.
