Tim Taylor

Continental Resources announced that its board of directors has elected Tim Taylor to the board as a class II director, effective Nov. 20, 2019. Taylor has more than 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, serving in various executive management positions in midstream and downstream businesses.  Most recently, he served as president of Phillips 66 from 2014 until his retirement in 2017.

CNOOC Limited announced that Xu Keqiang, a current executive director and president of the company, has been appointed CEO, effective Nov. 19, 2019. Xu is a professor-level senior engineer, earning a BS degree in oil and gas geology and a master’s degree in coalfield oil and gas geology from Northwest University.

Dr. Angela Wilkinson has succeeded Dr. Christoph Frei as the secretary general and CEO of the World Energy Council, as of Nov. 1, 2019.  Dr. Wilkinson previously served as the senior director, scenarios and business insights, World Energy Council, leading the insights program and strengthening the council’s drive to energy transition impact.

TDI-Brooks announced the hiring of Richard Byno III, PMP, to lead vessel operations and activities as the director of marine operations. Byno served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was a member of a Marine Special Operations Command team in regions of Iraq, Afghanistan and northern Africa.

Graeme Chalmers, COO of Scottish energy equipment manufacturer and service provider Flowline Specialists, has joined the ranks of Scotland’s respected international business network GlobalScot. The group is a diverse worldwide network of business leaders, entrepreneurs and executives with a connection to Scotland.  GlobalScot comprises of around 650 members, based in over 50 countries around the globe.

Global oilfield services firm RMEC has appointed an oil and gas industry veteran to boost its operations as it prepares for its next stage of international growth. Vic Allan has joined the company from Halliburton, where he spent 28 years working his way up through the slickline division. Most recently, he oversaw a team of 120 servicing a large portfolio of clients in the UK and Europe.

Neodrill, innovator in pre-rig technology, announced that it is entering the Australian market with the hiring of Tim Dallas in Perth. Dallas is a business development expert with almost 30 years of experience in the oil and gas sector.

Austin Avuru, Seplat Petroleum’s current CEO, will step down from the role of CEO and be replaced by current CFO Roger Brown in July 2020. Brown joined Seplat in 2013 as the CFO and played a key role in the successful dual listing of the company in 2014.  Similarly, since joining the company, he has played significant roles in various asset acquisitions.

International oilfield services company Expro has appointed Quinn Fanning as CFO. With more than 20 years of experience, Fanning brings a breadth of financial leadership and executive management experience through his time as CFO of a public company and an investment banker. In his most recent position as executive V.P. and CFO of Tidewater, Mr. Fanning played a leadership role in completing Tidewater’s financial restructuring and its business combination with GulfMark Offshore

Joseph Lichon has been appointed to lead the Americas operations for integrated services provider EnerMech. With extensive energy industry experience, including engineering, procurement, sales and construction, Lichon was most recently executive V.P. of Americas for SNC-Lavalin. He has more than 25 years of operational and sales leadership experience in oil and gas projects, offshore and onshore.

Stephanie Hertzog

Stephanie Hertzog has been appointed CEO for Sodexo Energy & Resources (E&R) North America. In this position, she will work closely with the global heads of energy and mining to develop the regional strategy for retention and growth while focusing on technology, innovation, safety, and diversity. In addition, Eduard Erbiceanu has been appointed Sodexo’s global head of energy for Sodexo Energy & Resources Worldwide. Prior to this position, Mr. Erbiceanu was senior V.P. of global strategic planning for Sodexo’s Energy & Resources business.

EV Private Equity has appointed two new advisory board members, Bettina Bachmann and Carl Stjernfeldt, who bring decades of experience and valuable knowledge in venture capital to the firm. Bachmann spent 35 years at Shell, latterly as V.P. of subsurface & wells software, and now sits on several boards in non-executive roles, while Stjernfeldt leads the corporate development group in Americas for Shell New Energies. The EV advisory board includes senior representatives from AkerBP, Petrobras, Apache and Ensco.

Paradigm Intervention Technologies, based in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, has promoted Richie Buchan to product champion for their digital slickline service, Slick-E-Line. Buchan’s line manager, Arthur Merrick, manager for Paradigm Intervention Technologies comments, “Richie, has been with Paradigm for seven years and has been instrumental in the Slick-E-Line journey, from a field operations perspective.”

SPL, Inc., a leader in hydrocarbon testing, inspection and certification, announced that Dave Curtis has joined the organization as its executive V.P. of corporate strategy. With more than 27 years of measurement and analytical experience, Curtis will lead the company’s corporate strategy and ensure that it is aligned with customer demand. Prior to joining SPL, Curtis served as the measurement and product validation manager at Anadarko Petroleum.

Karl Haider has taken up the role of chief commercial officer for Tata Steel in Europe to further strengthen the company’s focus on customers. Haider joined Tata Steel in Europe in 2011 as director, downstream operations.

American Petroleum Institute named Frank Macchiarola senior V.P. of policy, economics and regulatory affairs. Macchiarola, a veteran Capitol Hill attorney and policy expert, will lead a newly aligned division at API that will integrate and bolster the organization’s advocacy, organizing regulatory affairs and economics, as well as the upstream, midstream, downstream and market development departments.

ADES International Holding PLC, a leading oil & gas drilling and production services provider in the Middle East and North Africa, has appointed Khaled Hassan as the new group CFO. Hassan will play a key role as the group focuses on creating shareholder value, consolidating its recent acquisitions and tending to its increased geographical portfolio.

High-voltage engineering specialist EDS HV Group, part of the UK’s leading marine services company, James Fisher and Sons plc, has appointed Ryan Henderson as its new managing director. Ryan will become managing director on Jan. 1, 2020, at which point Ken Ritson, current managing director and founder of the business, will take up a new role as a non-executive director.
