Improved wireline trucks increase safety and reliability
Nine Energy Service has rolled out enhanced SkyView wireline trucks. The upgraded design includes 90° visibility in the back, a re-engineered logging unit, and a separate power pack that offers independent hydraulic and generator power that can be used to run the operation if a vehicle failure occurs. Drive out will begin third-quarter 2018.
Digital twin enables value chain transformation in operations
Kongsberg Digital has launched a new digital twin. The virtual model of unmanned production facilities for oil and gas, combined with the Kognifai solution, creates a collaborative arena, allowing users onshore to explore planned or existing assets offshore. Available on any digital device, the twin recreates all the characteristics of real assets in an advanced, data-enriched 3D visualization.
Premium elastomer addresses demands of difficult wells
NOV has introduced POB 97 to the PowerPLUS oil-based line of premium elastomers, addressing the industry’s need for high-performance elastomer for shale drilling. The rubber compound has an improved injection process, and can be run in both WBM and OBM, and in conventional and ERT power sections. In addition, POB 97 offers 50% more torque and power potential above standard NBR elastomers.
Optimized jacket design reduces footprint, is 100% ROV, AUV accessible
Chet Morrison Contractors has formed a strategic partnership with iSIMS to launch the iJacket. The enhanced method in jacket and foundation design is an advancement on the conventional true X-braced jacket design, and supports the same deck load, conductor/riser count, and drilling deck. The modular nature provides cost-savings, reduced material and labor requirements, by up to 30%.
Chemical well treatment boosts oil production from mature vertical wells
Cleansorb has developed a DEEPA formulation that increases the matrix permeability of rock and simultaneously remediates nearby wellbore damage. The treatment delivers organic acid deep into the rock matrix via in-situ acid generation, and increases permeability uniformly around the wellbore. Testing has been done on mature vertical wells in Canada, resulting in a 250% increase in oil production.
Hydraulic fracturing automation maximizes efficiency, performance
Halliburton has unveiled an automation service for hydraulic fracturing, Prodigi AB. By automating the breakdown process of a fracturing treatment, the service helps deliver better well performance by using algorithmic controls. The service is supported by a Halliburton completion advisor, who will tune the system to optimize performance. In addition, the service helps to improve overall efficiency, maximize the performance of perforation clusters and mitigate the risk of screen-out. The Prodigi AB service provides consistent design execution, better distribution of fluid across the perforated interval, and improved treatment pressures and rates. The service delivers improved precision to achieve a lower cost per boe.
Intervention rental service reduces capex investment, offers flexibility
JDR Cable Systems has launched IWOCS. The global intervention, workover and control systems rental service increases production from subsea wells, and has intervention, completions and plug and abandonment applications. This is accomplished without capex investment by providing a temporary connection. The service is customizable, and its flexible approach significantly decreases time, upfront cost and supply chain risk, compared to capital equipment.
Gyro surveying technology performs faster, avoids recalibration
Schlumberger has introduced the GyroSphere, a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) gyro-while-drilling service. The surveying tool is quicker, more rugged, and it increases drilling efficiency and reliability while reducing drilling risks. Additionally, the service can reduce gyro survey uncertainty by up to 45%.
Enhanced thread design provides gas-tight integrity connections
Precision has introduced the HOSS Premium Connection to the horizontal drilling and shale gas production market. The connection can withstand higher torques, severe bends, and higher frac pressures to allow for faster, safer and more profitable well completions. It is designed specifically to provide gas-tight integrity while allowing for superior over-torque performance and enhanced fatigue resistance.
