CGG has appointed Sophie Zurquiyah as CEO.

She will replace Jean-Georges Malcor, who reportedly decided not to pursue his mandate once the company’s restructuring process was complete. She was formerly the COO and senior executive V.P. in charge of the GGR segment of Technology and Global Operational Excellence. Prior to joining CGG in 2013, Zurquiyah held a variety of global executive positions at Schlumberger. During her 22-year career there, she worked in the U.S., France and Brazil.

Susan Dio has been named chairman and president of BP America Inc. She succeeds John Mingé, who will move to chair a study by the National Petroleum Council (NPC) into carbon capture utilization and storage. He is subsequently set to retire from BP in March 2019, after approximately six years as chairman and president. For the last three years, Dio has served as chief executive of BP Shipping. However, her 33-year career at BP also has included a number of senior commercial and operating positions in the U.S., UK and Australia.

James “Jim” L. Gallogly has announced that he is resigning from his position on Continental Resources’ board of directors. His departure reportedly is in connection with his appointment as president designate of the University of Oklahoma. According to Gallogly, his decision to resign is to ensure that he can devote the necessary time and attention to his obligations at the university. 

Patterson-UTI Energy Inc. has expanded its board of directors to eight members with the appointment of Janeen S. Judah. She brings more than 35 years of operational and managerial experience to her new role. Most recently, she served as president of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), while on secondment from Chevron. At Chevron, she has held a number of leadership positions, including general manager for the southern Africa business unit and president of Chevron Environmental Management Company.

Stephen Sheppard has been appointed to the International Marine Contractors Association’s (IMCA) governing board. As diving manager at Helix Well Ops UK Ltd., Sheppard brings extensive knowledge of diving operations to the position. He is said to be an industry expert in diving health and medical issues. Sheppard presently serves IMCA as chairman of the operations committee and the diving division management committee.

Orrick, a global law firm focused on the technology, energy & infrastructure, and finance sectors, announced that James Atkin has joined the firm as global co-head of their oil & gas practice, focused on Asian market growth and based in Tokyo. Atkin has extensive experience advising on large-scale oil and gas projects, LNG sales arrangements, and energy-related mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Orrick, Atkin was managing partner at Vinson & Elkins in Tokyo.

Paul Lynch has been named advanced completions director at Tendeka. In his new role, Lynch will help drive commercialization of the company’s wireless intelligent completions technology, PulseEight. He brings extensive knowledge of production and well optimization to his new position. Lynch joins the company from Delphian Ballistics, where he was V.P. of global technical sales. He also co-founded GeoKey, a tubing conveyed perforating company that was acquired by Paradigm Group in 2013.

David Sealock has been named CEO at Petroteq Energy Inc. He brings more than 26 years of strategic management and business experience to his new position. Prior to his appointment, Sealock served as president of Autus Ventures, where he established equity financing processes for startup and intermediate oil and gas companies, and managed strategic planning and portfolio optimization. Prior to that, he was V.P. of R&D at Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada (PTAC). 

James Corbitt has joined Permian Water Solutions LLC as president, where he will partner with upstream operators, independent water haulers and other oilfield service companies to provide water disposal services across New Mexico and West Texas. Corbitt brings significant saltwater disposal (SWD) marketing, sales and leadership expertise to the company, having most recently been with Trinity Environmental Services SWD, LLC, and Wilson Systems, Inc. 

Shane Fraser has joined Ziyen Inc. as director of oil intelligence. With more than 25 years of industry experience, he will play an integral role in the company’s plan for international growth. Prior to joining the company, Fraser served as operations engineer for a North Sea operator. He has held numerous roles in senior operations, maintenance and project delivery in the UK and the Middle East. 

ExxonMobil’s senior V.P., Mark W. Albers, has announced his retirement following more than 38 years of service. Since his election in 2007, Albers has served as senior V.P. and a member of the company’s management committee. Throughout his career, he has held a number of managerial positions in development, operations, production and engineering. China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Limited has announced two director changes. 

Wang Dongjin has been appointed as a non-executive director and a member of the Renumeration Committee at CNOOC. Throughout his career, Dongjin held many executive leadership positions which included chairman of PetroChina, assistant president of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and vice chairman of China National Oil & Gas Exploration and Development Corporation (CNODC). Furthermore, Wu Guangpi has retired from the CNOOC board of directors after serving 13 years as executive director, non-executive director and member of the Remuneration Committee. 

Engineering and construction services company Drake & Scull International (DSI) has appointed Dr. Fadi Feghali as CEO effective April 1. He previously managed the firm’s international business units. In his new role, Feghali will oversee all aspects of strategy and business implementation for the global DSI Group of companies. Prior to joining DSI in October 2017, Feghali served as managing director of Al Husam Group. As a renowned industry veteran, he brings more than 30 years of experience in the energy, utility, infrastructure, and oil and gas sectors to his newest position. His appointment reportedly was part of the company’s recent organizational overhaul.

Kreuz Subsea has announced two key appointments to its Singapore headquarters. Pradeep Verma has joined the company as chief commercial officer, where he will work to strengthen its core market position in India, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. He joins the company from Larsen & Toubro Ltd., where he was head of offshore business development. Prior to that, Verma was regional proposals and commercial head at McDermott International. Additionally, Marek Kaminski has joined Kreuz as director of marine assets. He most recently served as regional vessel and asset manager at Subsea 7. Having also worked previously at EMAS Offshore Ltd. and Rubicon International, Kaminski brings more than 30 years of industry experience to his new position. wo-box_blue.gif
