Weatherford International has secured a contract for plug and abandonment (P&A) services by Repsol Norge AS. The work, which reportedly was scheduled to begin in October, includes fishing, cutting and milling, casing pulling, and drilling and pinning multiple strings of casing. The company will perform services on up to 50 wells, which are to be plugged and abandoned. The work is expected to be complete within a three-year period.
Danos has secured a mechanical and automation maintenance services contract from Shell E&P Company. Under terms of the contract agreement, Danos will provide project management, construction, automation, fabrication and scaffolding services for Shell’s Auger and Ram Powell tenion-leg platforms, as well as the Enchilada (pictured) and Salsa fixed-leg platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Danos says that it plans to mobilize nearly 100 Louisiana-based employees for the project.
Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), has won a contract from Nigeria LNG (NLNG) for provision of asset performance management (APM) software and services. Under contract terms, the company will provide software services to reduce unplanned outages and trips for LNG trains. The solution was developed to enhance
the performance of LNG trains at NLNG’s gas liquefaction plant on Bonny Island, Nigeria. According to BHGE, this is the first BHGE Turbomachinery & Process Solutions APM in Sub-Sahara Africa.
Block Energy has agreed to acquire the outstanding 31% working interest in the Norio onshore oil field production sharing contract (PSC) in the Republic of Georgia, nearly 25 mi from Tbilisi. The company also will assume operatorship, following a cash payment of $310,000 to Georgia Oil and Gas Ltd. The acquisition reportedly will enable Block Energy to increase the field’s production to approximately 300 bopd, up from 26 bopd. In addition to the Norio acquisition, Block Energy also will assume operatorship of nearby Satskhenisi field, where the company holds a 90% working interest.
Archer has been awarded a four-year contract to provide Repsol Norge AS with additional P&A and related services on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. According to Archer, this is the company’s second contract win with Repsol Norge this year. The first contract includes drilling and maintenance services, engineering and downhole tool rental services. The second contract includes the provision of perforating, washing and cementing services; wireline, slickline and e-line services; and downhole mechanical bridge plugs.
Tendeka has reported three new key contracts in the Middle East. The company was awarded a contract by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to provide a lower completions project. It also will supply a range of specialized inflow control technologies to Abu Dhabi Onshore Operations Company (ADCO) and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). ADCO’s three-year contract—which includes a one-year extension—will involve Tendeka’s zonal isolation products, as well as an array of inflow control technologies. The PDO contract includes a multi-well trial and a one-year deployment contract for the applications of FloSure Autonomous ICD in Oman. The deal with KOC will see Tendeka install advanced ICD equipment in 55 horizontal wells in northern Kuwait over a two-year period.
Sparrows Group has formed Sparrows Offshore Ghana Ltd., a JV with Hydra Group Limited. The JV will deliver crane, lifting and inspection services in Ghana. According to the CEO at Sparrows Group, there is an immediate demand for a crane specialist to provide lifting, mechanical handling and inspection services in Ghana, particularly in the offshore market. The partnership reportedly will enable the delivery of a full range of services, including integrated engineering services.
Topaz Energy has secured a new contract with Total to support operations in Azerbaijan. Under terms of the contract, Topaz will provide its anchor-handling vessel Topaz Triumph to service a workover well and a development well at Absheron field, in the Caspian Sea. The work is estimated to take more than a year to complete.
Tenaris has opened a new service center in Aberdeen, Scotland. The eight-acre facility, called Rig Direct, includes pipe storage, an inspection facility and an indoor warehouse to handle the management, preparation and delivery of OCTG. According to Tenaris, the center was established to more efficiently support customers with onshore, as well as offshore, operations in the North Sea region.
Stork, part of Fluor Corp.’s services segment, has secured a 29-month contract with Ecopetrol SA. The contract will see Stork provide operations support services for the Orinoquia Vice-Presidency project’s production facilities, situated in central Colombia. The contract also includes sampling and monitoring services for injection and production wells, surface facilities and the inspection of oil well locations.
Oilfield Helping Hands (OHH), a nonprofit organization made up of volunteers dedicated to helping oilfield workers in need of financial assistance, has allocated funds to help those effected by Hurricane Harvey. Applicants reportedly must work for one of OHH’s corporate members or live and/or work in one of the areas covered by an OHH chapter. Additionally, the applicant is required to have at least five years of work experience in the E&P sector of the energy industry, and a minimum of 75% of their income must have been earned from that employment. OHH board members will then review and process funding requests to assist families in the Houston metropolitan area as they recover from the devastation left behind by the storm.
