Gulf Publishing and World Oil’s retired chairman, president and CEO, Robert W. (Bob) Scott, was inducted into the Offshore Energy Center’s Hall of Fame as an Individual Pioneer on Sept. 17, 2016. Scott received his award from William (Bill) Barkhouse, chairman of the OEC’s Hall of Fame Advisory Committee. Also inducted into the Hall of Fame as Individual Pioneers were Gordon Sterling (see also World Oil, September 2016, p. 27), retired from Shell Oil, and Roger Bexon (deceased), retired from BP. Inducted as a Founding Pioneer was famed Texas wildcatter Michel Halbouty (deceased). Also, Lillian Espinoza Gala, formerly of ODECO, was inducted as the OEC’s first Industry Champion, for her work as one of the Gulf of Mexico’s first female production roustabouts.

Paul Shrieve has been appointed CEO of North Sea Offshore Operations, Marine and Offshore, for testing, inspection and certification services company Bureau Veritas. Based in Aberdeen, UK, Shrieve is returning to the company after previously serving as V.P. of North Sea Oil and Gas from 1999 to 2006. Overall, he has more than 15 years of senior management experience in the industry.

Cheniere Energy has restructured its executive leadership team. Presently senior V.P. and CFO, Michael Wortley has been named executive V.P. and CFO. He will guide long-term financial strategy. Anatol Feygin, presently senior V.P. of strategy and corporate development, will become executive V.P. and chief commercial officer. Tom Bullis has been appointed as executive V.P. and chief administrative officer. Ed Lehotsky has been named senior V.P. of engineering and construction. Additionally, Doug Shanda will serve as the company’s senior V.P. of operations, and Chad Zamarin will serve as senior V.P. of pipeline construction and operations. Sean Markowitz will become general counsel and corporate secretary, while Corey Grindal moves into the role of senior V.P. of gas supply.

Royal IHC has appointed Arie Vergunst as CFO, effective Oct. 1. He succeeds Dave Vander Heyde, who became CEO of the company on Sept. 1. Since June 2007, Vergunst has held several financial positions within the company, both at holding level, as well as in the business.

Graeme Booth has joined Ashtead Technology’s UK team as regional technical support leader. He joins the company from Subsea 7, where he held several technical support and offshore operational positions, including survey equipment superintendent. Booth brings more than 25 years of subsea experience to his new role, where he will provide technical support involving equipment rentals and custom engineered packages for global ROV operations.

Penn West Petroleum has named David French as its new president and CEO. He also joined the company’s board of directors, effective Oct. 24. He succeeds Dave Roberts. Most recently, French served as president and CEO of Bankers Petroleum. Prior to that, he held a number of executive roles at Apache Corp., including regional production manager for the western Canadian business and global V.P. of business development. He has experience working throughout Canada and the U.S., as well as in Europe.

Paul Cooper has announced his retirement from Teledyne CARIS USA, after leading the company for 10 years. Karen Hart has been appointed as his successor, and will take over the role of director. In her new role, Hart will aim to further develop the company’s U.S. market. She brings more than 16 years of hydrography and oceanography experience to her new position, nine of which have been with Teledyne CARIS.

Tendeka has appointed Peter Soroka as its new advanced completions commercialization manager. With more than 35 years of industry experience, Soroka has worked for companies including OMV UK, Statoil, Total and Schlumberger. He has experience in the technological development of oil and gas projects worldwide, integrating subsea reservoirs and wells, as well as greenfield, brownfield and satellite developments. In his new role, Soroka will aid in the delivery of innovative solutions to enhance overall recovery, as well as the expansion of Tendeka’s client base.

Christian S. Kendall has been promoted to president of Denbury Resources. He joined the company in September 2015 as COO, and will continue those responsibilities until a successor is appointed. Kendall brings more than 27 years of industry experience to his new position, including an array of technical and leadership roles. Prior to joining Denbury, he most recently served as senior V.P. of global operations services at Noble Energy.

Deloitte Consulting LLP has appointed John England to lead its energy and resources (E&R) industry practice in the U.S. Additionally, the firm has appointed Scott Smith to lead its power and utilities (P&U) sector. They succeed John McCue, who previously held both roles. England will continue to serve as the firm’s vice chairman. Likewise, Smith also will continue his role as E&R leader for the firm’s audit practice.

Richard Dyson has been named CEO of io oil & gas consulting. Based in London, he will oversee the firm’s global operations, including offices in Houston and Perth. Dyson formerly held a number of leadership roles involving key markets in Brazil, the Middle East, the Caspian region and Kazakhstan.

Joe Price has been named country manager for InterMoor Canada. Based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, he will support the development of business in that region. Price brings more than 14 years of offshore industry experience to his new role. He has extensive knowledge of the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of mobile and permanent mooring systems.

Swire Oilfield Services has appointed John BruceRae-Smith as CEO. He succeeds Tor Helgeland, who retired in August after 22 years with the company. Based in Aberdeen, UK, Smith will join Swire’s management committee, where he will help drive the company’s upstream business activities worldwide. He has been with the company since 1985.

Weatherford International has named Dr. Mario Ruscev as executive V.P., president of product lines and chief technology officer. He will report directly to Bernard J. Duroc-Danner, chairman of the board, president and CEO. Ruscev will lead the company’s operational team, aiming to strengthen its overall integrated product line strategy.
