Compact, multi-phase flowmeter identifies and measures non-symmetrical flow

Emerson Automation Solutions has introduced the Roxar MPFM 2600 M multi-phase flowmeter. The flexible wellhead measurement solution is based on a field-proven technology platform, and meets the needs of many challenging applications. As fields age and conditions change, the compact flowmeter can be retrofitted easily. As part of the scalable Roxar multi-phase product group, it offers direct installation and commissioning. It can identify and measure non-symmetrical flow in varying systems. Different modules can be placed into a variety of configurations, and software modules are available to help with challenging applications, including flowback measurements, well testing and allocation metering.

Chemical management system monitors data streams, manages deliveries

Clariant has released the VERITRAX intelligent chemical management system. It is an automatic chemical control, monitoring and ordering system that optimizes chemical management tasks, which results in a significant reduction in operating costs. The system provides continuous real-time data that are delivered directly to a laptop or smartphone. Customers can monitor multiple data streams and automatically program new chemical deliveries. Also, continuous system monitoring alerts the operator to potential complications, allowing swift interventions and minimal production loss. The system provides precise chemical pump control and data analysis, to ensure that the correct chemical is delivered at the well site, at particular ppm level dosages.

Temperature transmitters eliminate the need for shutdowns in hazardous environments

Schneider Electric has introduced Foxboro RTT15S optical temperature transmitters, enabling users to locally configure and operate the transmitters in hazardous environments, with no need for shutdowns. The temperature transmitters feature a backlit LCD display with optical configuration buttons, which can be operated through a glass cover on the unit’s explosion-proof housing. The transmitters are microprocessor-controlled, and can receive input signals from thermocouples, resistance temperature detectors (RTDs), and ohm or millivolt sources. They reduce ambient temperature effects, while providing elevated accuracy, repeatability and linearization of input signals.

Fully composite frac plug delivers improved anchoring and sealing

Vigor USA has added a 100% fully composite frac plug to its line of downhole tools. According to Vigor, the ULTRON VUSL frac plug is an industry first, as it is manufactured with no metal or metal alloy. The frac plug has been enhanced to deliver improved anchoring and sealing, compared to its competitors. Drill-out times span an average 10 to 12 min., while the sealing capacity is rated for temperatures of up to 300°F and pressures of up to 10,000 psi. It can be used in single or multi-zone stimulation operations in vertical, horizontal and multi-lateral applications.

Small-diameter ESP system optimizes production and reserve recovery

Baker Hughes has released the CENtrilift PASS slimline ESP system, the industry’s only small-diameter ESP system that can operate at flowrates as low as 50 bpd. With a comprehensive suite of slimline gas management technology, the system helps operators optimize production and reserve recovery, while lowering lifting costs in small-diameter wellbores or wells with restricted space. The system incorporates the FLEXPumpER extended-range pump, which operates at flowrates between 50 bpd and 2,500 bpd, lessening the need to replace pumping systems as production declines. Its improved flow path increases reliability of the ESP system, as it prevents solids build-up and abrasive wear in the pump. Additionally, the ESP system extends the pump’s pressure rating to 5,800 psi, which allows greater reservoir pressure draw-down and higher recovery rates.

Detection device alerts operators to impending leaks, reducing environmental risk

Ambyint has launched ambySense-SLD, a preemptive leak detection device that uses wireless sensor technology and machine intelligence to alert operators to the first sign of an impending leak within the dual-pack stuffing box. Detection occurs long before it becomes visible outside of the stuffing box, preventing it from posing any environmental threat. The technology offers significant time and cost-savings, as well as added protection against environmental risks. Additionally, when combined with the company’s ambyControl technology, producers can initiate instant remote deactivation of a well through an app, if alerted to a leak.

Slim-profile wireline tool captures samples in boreholes smaller than 3 in.

Weatherford has launched its Compact Formation Sampler, a slim-profile wireline tool capable of capturing up to three 700-cc samples in a variety of borehole sizes. It’s slim profile allows it to be run past restrictions smaller than 3 in., and to operate in boreholes as large as 14 in. Formation-sticking risks are reduced significantly by its self-centering design, which enables a quicker, more efficient connection with large target zones. Also, it allows the tool to be deployed on traditional wireline or through drill pipe.
