C-Innovation (C-I) has signed a two-year master services agreement, including call-off options, with BP for IMR services on the Island Enforcer, a 401-ft subsea installation and construction vessel. The agreement is an all-inclusive contract, including vessel, ROV, survey, engineering and project management. Initial work is scheduled to begin immediately, with installation of two production jumpers and EFLs at BP’s Atlantis field in the Gulf of Mexico.
BP’s Greater Plutonio Phase III project offshore Angola has begun production. Phase III is designed to sustain production through the Greater Plutonio FPSO in Block 18 by drilling four producers and two water injector wells connected to existing subsea infrastructure. This is BP’s second major upstream project start-up in 2015, and another two are expected before year-end.
Apache Corp. reported that it made significant progress in improving its financial picture during second-quarter 2015. The firm reduced total debt from $12.3 billion to $9.7 billion, and cash-on-hand grew from $200 million to $3.0 billion. A significant factor in the company’s turn-around was receipt of $5.7 billion in proceeds during the second quarter from Apache’s sales of its LNG interests and oil and gas properties in Australia and Canada.
Shell Offshore Inc. has selected Danos to fabricate three boarding valve skid assemblies for its deepwater Appomattox project. The contract, expected to take approximately one year to complete, will necessitate five Danos divisions: coatings, fabrication, instrumentation and electrical, project management and procurement. To begin immediately, the skids will be fabricated at Danos’ Amelia, La., facility and shipped to Ingleside, Texas, for integration. The equipment will then be installed on a floating production platform in deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
InterMoor Inc. has completed foundation installation work offshore Trinidad and Tobago, which is its largest project to date. The project’s final stage involved hooking up Diamond Offshore’s Ocean Victory semisubmersible to the pre-set mooring spread that the company had installed previously. This final step completes the company’s mooring and foundation installation campaign for BP Trinidad and Tobago’s Juniper gas project.
Fugro has delivered a bespoke structural monitoring system to Exxon Neftegas Ltd. as operator for, and on behalf of, the Sakhalin-1 Consortium. The system will monitor structural integrity at the Berkut oil platform in Arkutun Dagi field, offshore Russia’s Sakhalin Island. The company was commissioned to provide an integrated system that monitors both the platform’s seismic response and the performance of the FPBs. The bespoke solution also had to satisfy the Russian GOST and GOST-Ex certification requirements, and withstand extreme environmental conditions. Fugro configured the bespoke environmental and explosion protection equipment at its Glasgow, UK, offices, using a set of proven sensing and data acquisition equipment.
Global Maritime Group has been awarded a contract to provide mooring and rig positioning services to Australia’s Woodside Petroleum. Under the contract, the company will perform mooring and rig positioning services on the semisubmersible drilling unit, Ocean Monarch, which is working at Julimar field on Australia’s North West Shelf. Mobilization and offshore operations began in May.
CGG said that it has been awarded a contract by Tanzanian Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) to acquire high-resolution gravity gradiometry and aeromagnetic data over two onshore areas along the southeastern Tanzanian Coastal basin and the eastern arm of the East African rift. Acquisition over the 30,000-km2 area was scheduled to begin in August, and was expected to last up to two months. CGG will deliver data and interpretation to help evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of these basins ahead of future licensing rounds.
Subsea Riser Products Ltd. (SRP), an Acteon company, has secured a contract to develop and qualify its Nimway 510 and Nimway 710 completion and workover riser connectors for a subsea wellheads and production systems provider. The commitment of more than $4 million is against SRP successfully qualifying the connectors to ISO 13628-7:2005 and the latest working draft of API specification 17G (2015); with the client obtaining exclusive rights to the 5¼-in. and 7⅜-in., 10,000-psi connectors for at least two years. The contract is paired with a strategic supply agreement, which enables SRP to source wider support services from other Acteon companies involved in subsea risers and moorings.
GE Oil & Gas has shipped two LNG compressor trains that are being supplied for the development of Dominion’s Cove Point LNG Export facility, which is under construction by IHI E&C International Corp. and Kiewit Energy Co. Each of the two identical trains includes an FR7 Gas Turbine plus three centrifungal compressors, and a 20-MW, 2-pole induction electric helper motor provided by GE’s Power Conversion Business. GE’s industrial gas turbines feature DLN technology and provide 86-MW ISO shaft power, while reducing emissions. The LNG liquefaction plant is in Lusby, Md., on Chesapeake Bay.
Weatherford International plc has announced the acquisition of the assets of Elite Energy Products, a manufacturing and service company that designs and manufactures rotating control devices (RCD) and other specialty drilling equipment. They will offer an existing infrastructure and manufacturing capacity, allowing Weatherford to extend the scope of its land RCD and managed pressure drilling technology and services to include original equipment manufacturing RCD sales to rigs for permanent installation.
Fortress Environmental Services has opened a $2.5-million frac tank wash-out and truck wash facility on Interstate 10 between Houston and San Antonio, as
well as a $9.3-million saltwater disposal well in Waelder, Texas. The frac tank wash-out center will serve oil and gas E&P companies, and oilfield service and saltwater disposal tanker trucking fleets located in counties working the Eagle Ford shale in South Texas. The company’s heated propane, high-pressure freshwater frac tank wash-outs are scrubbed by a team of professionals, and truckers are provided with free meals, Wi-Fi, showers and a break room. The facility has three frac tank wash-out bays that can be double-stacked to allow up to six simultaneous frac tank wash-outs at one time.
In an effort to better provide for customers, as well as to improve efficiency and save money, Schramm is expanding to Houston. The hydraulic drilling manufacturer and supplier’s new office opened Aug. 24, and is approximately 20 min. from the Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport. According to Schramm, the expansion is setting the stage for future market recovery.
Sparrows Group has expanded into the Malaysian market after forming a partnership with a local service provider in the region, Efficient Technology (Eftech), as part of the company’s plan to increase business in the Asia-Pacific region over the next five years. As part of the country-wide agreement, the company will offer services, such as offshore crane maintenance, crane hire, fluid power, inspection and cable and pipelay products. Although the company already works with a number of drilling companies in Malaysia, the partnership with Eftech should increase business there significantly.
