IEA has named Fatih Birol as the agency’s next executive director. Birol joined the IEA in 1995, and has held the positions of chief economist and director of global energy economics. In his new role, he also will oversee the IEA’s World Energy Outlook publication.

Steven Newman has stepped down as president and CEO of Transocean. Ian Strachan, chairman of the board, will serve as interim CEO. Strachan has served as a company director since 1999.

TAM International has hired Scott Myers as Middle East manager, and Edward Wharam as country manager for Indonesia and Malaysia. Myers joined TAM from Key Energy Services, where he was regional manager for the MENA region. Wharam was a business development director for National Oilwell Varco prior to this appointment. 

Atlantic Offshore Rescue has named Matthew Gordon as managing director for its UK division. Gordon replaced John Bryce, who had retired. Gordon’s previous roles include a general manager position within Viking Seatech, and an eight-year span with Subsea 7.

Garth Johnson, CEO of TAG Oil, and Drew Cadenhead, TAG COO, have each submitted their resignations to the company. They will continue in their respective roles during a transition period to support the appointment of new executives.

Cohen Guidry has been appointed as regional manager for Intermoor’s West Africa operations. Guidry joined InterMoor in 2006 as HSE manager, and has more than 20 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, in quality, health, safety and security roles.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (NOIA) announced the recipients of its 2015 Industry Achievement Awards. Kevin Roche of Noble Drilling Canada (retired) was the 2015 Outstanding Contribution Award recipient, and Mike Wahl of Definitions Health & Wellness was the 2015 Rising Star Award recipient. Both individuals were recognized at NOIA’s Industry Achievement Awards Gala on Feb. 25 at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland.

Bob Gerwing has been appointed V.P of facilities engineering at Sunshine Oilsands. Gerwing has over 31 years of experience in the industry, including over 20 years in heavy oil and oilsands development, including work as a consultant with RFG Oilfield Engineering, and in various roles with Athabasca Oil.

2H Offshore has promoted Phil Ward to director of the company’s Aberdeen office. Ward holds a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Cambridge, is a chartered engineer, and a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He has worked at 2H Offshore’s Aberdeen office for more than
four years.

Bobby F. (Bob) Weatherly has retired from Callon Petroleum Company. Weatherly served as a company director from 1994 to 2014, and as executive V.P. and CFO from 2006 to 2014.

Charles W. “Chip” Goodyear will retire from Anadarko as a board member at the close of the company’s annual stockholder meeting in May. The Woodlands, Texas-based company has elected Mark C. McKinley as an independent director, and as a member of the board’s audit committee.

Inge G. Thulin has been elected to Chevron’s board of directors. He will serve on the company’s Board Nominating and Governance Committee, and management Compensation Committee. Thulin is chairman of the board, president and CEO of 3M Company.

Darrell Johnson joins Camcon Oil as strategic adviser to the board. Johnson has over 25 years of experience in the industry, including 14 years with offshore rig contractors and seven years with Weatherford, leading projects for major oil companies.

SBM Offshore has appointed Philippe Barril as COO. Barril joins the company from Technip, where he most recently held the position of president and CEO. Barril has over 25 years of experience across the oilfield engineering and construction industry.

Pacific Drilling has announced a leadership reorganization. COO Cees Van Diemen is now an executive V.P. and COO, CFO Paul Reese has been named executive V.P. and CFO, Edgar Rincon has been promoted to senior V.P. of corporate services, and Tony Seeliger is now senior V.P. of operations, over the Africa and Americas regions.

Wellsite Rental Services has appointed Stephen Sheppert as engineering manager. Sheppert’s responsibilities include engineering support for all of Wellsite’s product lines, with a focus on the hydraulically operated, flush-mounted slips for tripping drill pipe. Sheppert’s experience includes a technical role for Offshore Energy Services, and as a senior engineer at Global X-ray and Testing.

SandRidge Energy has appointed Steve Turk to executive V.P. and COO. Turk has more than 30 years of E&P experience, having served most recently as COO at HighMount Exploration & Production. Previously, Turk was operations V.P. for the Southern Division of Chesapeake Energy. He also held various operations and management positions for Equitable Production Co., Ziff Energy Group and Cabot Oil and Gas.

Blaine Thibodeaux has been named president of Fugro Chance. He has been COO of Fugro Chance since April 2014, and began his career with the company’s IT group in 1996. He has a degree in civil engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

LUX Assure has appointed Melanie Reid as product line manager for its chemical monitoring technology, CoMic. Reid comes from Clariant Oil Services, where she worked as senior development chemist. In her new role she will support sales of CoMic, as well as act as a technical advisor to clients.

Legacy Reserves has announced that Cary D. Brown, chairman, president and CEO of the general partner of Legacy, has submitted his resignation as president and CEO. Legacy’s board has appointed Paul T. Horne, Legacy’s executive V.P. and COO, as the new president and CEO. Previously, Horne worked for Mobil E&P U.S., Inc., in a variety of petroleum engineering and operations management roles, primarily in the Permian basin.

Fairmount Santrol has appointed Michael C. Kearney and Stephen J. Hadden to the company’s board of directors, expanding the board’s size to nine members. Kearney formerly served as president and CEO of DeepFlex, and has served in various executive roles at Tesco and Hydril. Hadden has over 35 years of industry experience, having served in various management roles for Texaco (now Chevron), and more recently as executive V.P.  of worldwide E&P for Devon Energy. Hadden is also a director of LINN Energy. wo-box_blue.gif
