Harvey Gulf International Marine is constructing a $25-million liquefied natural gas (LNG) refueling facility in Port Fourchon to serve, what it says, is the growth of LNG as a marine fuel. No completion date for the LNG bunkering facility has been provided.

Phase 1 of the construction project comes on the heels of Harvey Gulf’s announcement that it will invest $350 million in vessels capable of operating on LNG.

CEO Shane Guidry described the LNG fueling facility at Port Fourchon as “the first of its kind in the United States” and “a vital addition to the growing national LNG supply infrastructure, supporting critical operations of the oil and gas industry’s offshore fleet, as well as over-the-road vehicles operating on clean LNG.”

The Port Fourchon LNG facility will consist of two sites, each having 270,000 gal of LNG storage capacity. Each will be able to transfer 500 gal/min. of LNG.

“Today’s milestone represents another significant step in the path for Harvey Gulf to establish itself as the nation’s leader in utilizing LNG as a marine fuel,” Guidry said in a release following the February groundbreaking. wo-box_blue.gif
