T.D. Williamson Inc. (TDW), a supplier of pipeline equipment and services, has opened an 80,000-sq-ft engineering and manufacturing center in Savli, near Vadodara, India, as part of its commitment to the Indian market. The new plant will significantly expand the company’s ability to handle large projects while reducing delivery time. The Savli plant is the third major engineering and manufacturing facility that TDW has opened.


Ezra Holdings Ltd., an integrated support and marine services provider in the offshore oil and gas industry, has signed a $250 million deal with Aker Solutions AS, a provider of subsea products and engineering services. Under the agreement, Ezra will acquire 100% of Aker’s wholly owned subsea umbilicals, risers, flowlines and floater installation unit, Aker Marine Contractors. Ezra and Aker Solutions will also enter into a 50/50 joint venture for the ownership and chartering of the AMC Connector, a newly commissioned multipurpose construction vessel valued at about $300 million. The vessel is expected to be delivered in early 2012.


Drill String Services Inc., a certified full-service pipe inspection company, has opened a facility in South Williamsport, Pa. The new location offers a full array of machine shop, inspection and hardbanding services. Mark Kinslow was named Appalachian Regional Manager for the four-acre site, which will accommodate NDT inspection and portable hardbanding equipment.


Audubon has launched its new SURF division. Headed up by Shamim Suleman, the division will engineer, plan, design and manage the construction of complete subsea systems, including flow assurance, heavy oil, riser systems, pipeline and flowline services.


China based J&L Group, a manufacturer of wire rope, synthetic rope, cable- laid slings and a rigging equipment for heavy lifting, announced the establishment of J&L Offshore LLC, headquartered in Houston. J&L Offshore will focus on new equipment and services for the offshore oil industry.


Varel has opened an office in Corpus Christi, Texas, to serve as a stock point for its South Texas operations. The new office will focus on support for developmental drilling, especially those operations in the Eagle Ford Shale. Varel also announced the relocation and combination of both the Varel Gulf of Mexico sales office and the Downhole Products (DHP) USA office into a new combined office space in Houston.


UK-based Derrick Services (UK) Ltd (DSL) has opened two new international bases. An operations base in Algeria will support the engineering and project planning for the decommissioning of the CTF Rig 05 from Platform 2. In Southeast Asia, DSL has opened new offices in Singapore and appointed a regional manager to oversee growth as the company responds to increasing demand for its services from established customers in the region.
