Personnel changes and promotions in the petroleum industry.

As part of its global expansion, Knowledge Systems will establish two new regional centers in London, UK, and Perth, Australia, along with service and support personnel. The company named Russell Smith as its new managing director for the Asia/Pacific center in Perth. Smith most recently served as the company's international business development manager in Houston. In the Europe, Africa and Middle East market, Morris Covington was named managing director for the center. Covington has over 25 years of experience.

The Offshore Europe Partnership announced that Mark Carne, managing director and executive VP, Europe & Central Asia, for BG Group PLC, was named chairman for Offshore Europe 2007. OE is held every two years in Aberdeen, Scotland, and is organized by The Offshore Europe Partnership Ltd., a joint venture between Reed Spearhead Exhibitions and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Doug Bell was appointed hammer services manager for BJ Tubular Services, where he will carry out activities related to hammer conductor-driving services worldwide. Most recently, he served as area manager, Asia Pacific Region. Also, Andy Elliott will replace Bell as area manager, Asia Pacific Region. Previously he was hammer services manager for BJ Tubular Services in Great Yarmouth, England, and also worked as sales and operations manager, hammer services, for Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Dr. David Archer joined Petris as VP, responsible for product management and expanding the company's industry alliances. He has been involved with the development and production of energy-related software systems, including seismic interpretation, reservoir simulation and visualization and well-testing. Archer was president and CEO of POSC (Petrotechnical Open Standards Consortium) from 1997 to 2005.

Rodney W. Eads has been named executive VP and COO of Pride International,
responsible for the company's worldwide offshore operations and Eastern
Hemisphere land assets. Since 1997, Eads has been senior VP, Worldwide Operations, for Diamond Offshore Drilling.

Dr. E. G. (Skip) Ward joined INTEC Engineering on a part-time basis as a technical advisor. One of his initial tasks will be to develop and manage a research project to improve the understanding of vortex-induced high mode vibration causing fatigue damage to deepwater steel catenary risers. He will continue to serve as an associate director of the Offshore Technology Research Center (OTRC).

Severn Glocon, a UK-based manufacturer of control valves for the oil, gas, LNG, petrochemical, and power-generation industries, appointed Bill Meeks as sales manager for the Americas, operating out of the company�s offices in Houston, Texas. Meeks� broad experience in the control valve and actuation industries, having held positions with Fisher Controls, Valtek and Tyco/Keystone.

Tom Kinney has been appointed director of performance services at the Process Systems division of Invensys, where he will focus on process control performance management, alarm management
and related base performance services at the plant level. Previously, Kinney served as VP for worldwide sales at ExperTune Inc.
 

Dr. John Pope and Dr. Steve MacDonald of WellDog, Inc., an energy technology
company in Laramie, Wyoming, have been appointed to committees under the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. The appointments include the Energy Resources, Research and Technology committee, a national forum that debates, studies and develops positions on the economic, technical research and safety issues of domestic oil and natural gas production.

Former Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator William K. Reilly has joined the board of directors of Enviance, a provider of Internet-based, on-demand systems for management and automation of environmental,health and safety (EHS) compliance activities. Reilly served as the seventh administrator of the EPA from 1989 to 1993 under President George H. W. Bush.

BJ Services has appointed Umberto Micheli as manager for the Europe-Africa
Region of the Well Services Division. He has more than 26 years of experience in the oilfield service industry, and served previously as director of the company�s International Division in Houston.

ABS named William J. Sember as president and COO for one of its three divisions, ABS Europe. Sember replaces Christopher J. Wiernicki, who moves to the organization�s worldwide headquarters in Houston as president and COO. Previously VP of Energy Development and a corporate officer, Sember is a 30-year ABS veteran.

EnerMax, Inc., named Jim Norton as project manager, with responsibilities to include prospect evaluation, site inspection and field operations. He has over 10 years of experience working within the oil and gas industry. Norton is also well known for his nine-year career as a punter and defensive back with the Houston Oilers in the American Football League.
