Russell Wright has been made a partner in Groppe, Long & Littell, a consulting firm specializing in oil & gas analysis and forecasting. Wright worked for Gulf Publishing Co. for 30 years, where he ultimately served as Publisher of World Oil magazine.

BJ Services Co. appointed Kenny Watt as general manager of BJ Tubular & Completion Assembly Services. He is responsible for overseeing all operational, financial, business development and personnel activities for the division worldwide. Previously, Watt served for three years as area manager, Middle East, for BJ Tubular Services in Dubai.

BJ Process and Pipeline Services appointed Carl Mook as region manager, Middle East & Asia Pacific. In his new role, he will oversee all financial and operations management for the division. Mook has 21 years of experience in the process and pipeline industry.

Shawn P. Vigeant has joined Pride International as director of contracts and marketing. Vigeant spent the previous 12 years with Diamond Offshore Drilling, serving most recently as the company’s manager of contracts and marketing.

Ulterra Drilling Technologies has announced key appointments to its executive leadership team with the addition of Richard Flak, Mike Meadows and Ron Thomason. Flak joins the company as VP and general manager of the Roller Cone business unit. He served 13 years at Smith Technologies, where he held several executive positions. Meadows, with over 25 years of experience in energy service, becomes VP and general manager of Ulterra MWD. Formerly, he was the principal of an MWD start-up company and had 16 years of executive and marketing experience at Baker Hughes. Thomason was named CFO of Ulterra. He joined the company from Wood Group ESP, and has over 15 years of industry experience.

Heerema Marine Contractors named John B. Reed as CEO. Reed takes over from Hein Mulder, who will retire. Reed has served as CEO of INTEC Engineering in Houston – an operating company within Heerema Group – since 2004. Reed began his career with Heerema Group in 1981 at HMC, serving in a number of management positions, and playing a key role in the firm’s entrance into the deepwater pipelay market.

The Minerals Management Service Gulf of Mexico Region announced that Robert L. Sebastian has assumed the position of deputy regional supervisor, Office of Leasing and Environment. Sebastian served as leasing program manager for the past three years, and replaces Rick Defenbaugh, who retired after 30 years of government service.

Koch Industries, Inc., named Dave Robertson as president and COO, as its subsidiary Koch Forest Products, Inc., completed its merger with Georgia-Pacific. Robertson is only the seventh president of the company since its founding in 1940. He has worked for Koch Industries and several of its subsidiaries for more than 21 years. He replaces Joseph W. Moeller, who became president and CEO of Georgia-Pacific Corp. Robertson was elected executive VP and joined the Koch board of directors in March. Before that, he was president of Flint Hills Resources.

TAG Oil Ltd. appointed Mark Webster as exploration manager. He brings 21 years of international geotechnical and management experience, including over 10 years in New Zealand oil and gas exploration. Before joining TAG, he was chief petroleum geologist for the Ministry of Economic Development in Wellington.

Henrik O. Madsen has been appointed CEO of Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and will formally take over after Miklos Konkoly-Thege retires in May 2006. Madsen has 23 years of experience in DNV, the past two as head of the company’s certification business area.

Jeffrey D. Jarrett was sworn in as the assistant secretary for Fossil Energy at the US DOE. He was confirmed by the Senate in December. He will serve as the primary policy advisor to the secretary and the department on issues involving federal coal, oil, and natural gas programs, including the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Jarrett has been director of the Department of Interior’s Office of Surface Mining since January 2002.

Gary Yu has joined Geotrace as director of innovations, Reservoir Services, based in Houston. Previously, he was manager of Worldwide Geophysical Benchmark at TOTAL, France.

Heartland Oil and Gas, following the appointment of Phil Winner as president and CEO, has appointed Charles B. Willard as COO to replace Winner. Willard brings 30 years of experience managing field operations for a variety of independent oil companies, including Kerr McGee, The Anschutz Corporation, Consolidated Oil and Gas, and General Atlantic. The company also appointed Robert L. Poley as consulting CFO. From 2002 to 2004, Poley was a financial examiner with the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance in Washington, and has served previously in a variety of senior financial positions at various oil and gas firms. Also, Todd Mackintosh has been appointed to the board of directors.
