Personnel changes and promotions in the petroleum industry

Transocean Inc. named Jean P. Cahuzac as president and Steven L. Newman as COO. Cahuzac previously served as executive VP and COO of the company. He joined a predecessor of Transocean in 1979 and has held various international technical and senior management positions in the oil and gas industry for the past 27 years. Newman, who previously served as senior VP of Human Resources and Information Process Solutions, joined the company in 1994. Also, David J. Mullen was appointed senior VP of marketing and planning, and Robert J. Saltiel was named senior VP of the company’s North and South American Unit.

El Paso Corp. announced that Brent J. Smolik has accepted the position of president of El Paso Exploration & Production Co. Smolik was previously president of ConocoPhillips Canada. He has worked in the industry since 1983, beginning as a drilling and reservoir engineer with ARCO, and served in engineering and supervisory positions with Burlington Resources and Burlington Resources Canada.

AnTech Ltd appointed Rachel Heal as an electronics engineer with the Special Engineering Projects Department, responsible for designing and developing new systems, verifying software and overall engineering projects. She has 13 years of experience in electrical and electronics engineering management. Also joining the design team is James Kelsall as design engineer, where he will help develop the company’s wireless data acquisition systems.

ARKeX, developer of airborne gravity gradiometry technology, appointed John Siegfried as operations director. He has more than 25 years of industry experience in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Previously, Siegfried was global operations manager at Schlumberger.

Dr. Jeffrey Brown rejoined FACTS Global Energy as the managing director of EWCI Pte Ltd in Singapore. He is also the chief economist for the entire FACTS Global Energy group of companies. Brown, formally of the International Energy Agency, is internationally recognized as an authority on global oil market analysis, specifically on demand issues. He was previously co-author of IEA’s monthly Oil Market Report, and has authored numerous articles and comments in industry, economics and policy journals. Also, Siamak Adibi has joined the firm as a consultant, after working for many years at National Iranian Gas Export Co.

Red Spider Technology, a provider of well intervention, flow control and completion equipment to the oil and gas industry, has appointed Willie Morrison as regional manager of the company’s new Middle East office. Morrison has more than 16 years of industry experience, most recently as Eastern Hemisphere business development manager for a provider of solid expandable tubular products.

Al Mansoori Specialized Engineering (MSE) appointed Stephen Maharaj as a new general manager. He has more than 15 years of technical and management experience in planning, production, completions and reservoir engineering internationally. He was most recently a consultant at Sakhalin Energy Investment Co., and previously worked with Halliburton and Brunei Shell Petroleum.

Robert Baker has been named general manager for Applied Electronic Systems (AES), a Sondex company. He will be responsible for product manufacturing, sales, tech support and service for the company’s wireline and drilling products in the Lafayette region. Baker has more than 31 years of experience in the industry, most recently with Scientific Drilling in Houston. Sondex also named Anthony Watt as region manager for the Middle East, Russia and the CIS. He will be based in Dubai. Watt has more than 21 years of experience in the oilfield service arena.

Aberdeen-based MDT International, which provides financial, commercial and management development training for petroleum companies, has appointed Drew Leitch as managing director. Previously, he was country manager in Brazil for a major oil company. Also, Robert Hockley has been appointed as a company director. He has over 25 years of experience in exploration and production in various financial and commercial roles.

InterMoor Inc., which provides and installs integrated mooring systems for the offshore oil and gas industry, named Brent Boyce subsea installation manager. Based at InterMoor’s Houston office, he will be responsible for management of the Compensated Anchor-handler Subsea Installation Method (CASIM) and other installation activities.

BJ Process and Pipeline Services appointed Brent Greenway as sales manager for Saudi Arabia, where he will spearhead the expansion of the company’s services throughout the kingdom. Greenway has nine years of experience in the Middle East process and pipeline industry as a specialist in the pipeline inspection services sector.

Poseidon Maritime (UK) Ltd announced two key appointments. Graeme Reid was named Operations and Commercial manager, and John Ramsey was appointed Health and Safety manager. Reid joined PML as a consultant in 2003 from ABB Marine Ltd. Ramsey, a master mariner, joined PML in 2001.
