New modules for semi

Aberdeen-based Ferguson Modular recently provided Transocean with nine offshore accommodation modules for the Sedco 709, a deepwater semisubmersible. The modules support drilling on Shell’s Bonga project in Nigeria, West Africa.

The modules were manufactured and commissioned at the company’s Inverurie facility and delivered in April 2006. The complex comprises nine units: six 10.3-m accommodation modules, two office modules and a locker module, forming a facility for up to 36 persons.

Nine modules form a facility for up to 36 persons.

The modules offer safe and comfortable living accommodation for four to eight personnel. They are designed to DNV 2.7-1 / EN 12079 certification, incorporating the latest HSE standards. The high-integrity steel structure and layout allows flexible use of space. Hook-up is quick and plugs straight into onboard piping and electrical. The units are designed for easy linking and stacking.

Air conditioning is individual to each cabin and is suitable for a wide range of environments. Units have extra sound insulation for 24-hr sleeping ability (at 45 dpa). Under-floor heating in the wet units ensures quick dry-out for comfort and safety. PLC based fire and gas detection systems are standard fittings for personnel safety, and fire escape hatches can replace windows if required. WO
