Control valves

The miniature 375 and 500 Series directional flow control valves are ideal for timing applications that require long life and durability. The valves are available in 0.375 and 0.5-in. dia., as well as in free-flow forward and free-flow reverse models. Featuring a tough metal-to-metal seat, the valves also offer metered Lohm (resistance to liquid flow) rates ranging from 40 Lohms to 260 Lohms. The valves are constructed entirely of stainless steel and have a maximum working pressure of 3,000 psid. The 375 Series has a nominal weight of 10 g and the 500 Series is 20 g. (The Lee Company)

Instrumentation connectors

Fig 1MPI fittings are engineered to meet connector requirements for offshore deepwater drilling. They are designed to handle pressures ranging from 6,000 psi to 15,000 psi without the labor and costs associated with traditional medium pressure connections. The fittings have a long tube support section that provides improved resistance to vibration and line loads. Other benefits include outstanding sealing characteristics and easy assembly. (Parker Hannifin Corp.)

Manual pinch valve

Series 75 is available in sizes up to 72 in. and can be used on abrasive or corrosive slurries. Its elastomer sleeve provides excellent wear resistance, and it isolates the valve body and operating mechanism from the process material. This eliminates the need for expensive alloys and ensures that operating torque remains constant for the life of the valve. The sleeve is the only wetted part of the valve, and it is easily replaced. (Red Valve)

Pipe alignment system

Stab-Rite is a remotely operated pipe-positioning system. It enhances rig safety and performance during a variety of casing, tubing, drill pipe, riser and drivepipe applications. The system’s powerful jaw rollers maintain control tubulars, thus reducing crew fatigue during critical pipe handling operations, such as thread protector removal. Stab-Rite positions the pipe safely away from well center and then accurately positions the pipe over well center for initial stab. Threaded connections can be made-up or backed-out without cross threading. (FRANK’S)

Data distribution solution

Offering secure Internet access to wellsite data, instant messaging and confidential email, Wellhub.com is a wellsite information distribution solution. It improves information flow by providing a central location for wellsite data, including logs, reports, documents and images. It can provide real-time viewing of geological and drilling data, including LWD, wireline and other logs. It improves efficiency, enabling faster decisions by providing automatic data access, including partners, regulatory agencies and service companies. (Datalog)

Portable spectrophotometer

DR/2400 is designed for the water analysis industry. It combines advanced optics; comprehensive testing and data management capabilities; simplified, touch-screen operation; and complete transportability. A touch-screen user interface makes it easy to access more than 130 direct-reading tests and navigate through analytical functions. Automatic wavelength calibration and selection also simplify on-site analysis. The tool identifies and logs up to 1,000 data points for download via serial and parallel ports. It is available singly or as part of a complete portable laboratory. (Hach Co.)

Displays, workstations

RuggedTouch and RuggedTouchPlus are industrial touch-screen displays and workstations designed for harsh environments, such as high-pressure caustic washdowns. Scratches, gouges and even deep cuts won’t affect these units’ functionality. RuggedTouch is available with 12-in., 15-in. and 18-in. LCD displays. Bezel options include stainless steel for NEMA 4X applications and black, powder-coated steel for NEMA 4 and 12 applications. The RuggedTouchPlus includes a rear mounted ATX computer, with up to six expansion slots, an Intel Pentium III 1.2 GHz processor, 30 GB hard drive and 256 MB of RAM. (Dolch Computer Systems)

Magnetic level gauge

KM26 is a proven, level measuring instrument for liquids, such as oil, water, acids, solvents, petrochemicals, or most liquid-to-liquid interfaces. It can be safely used in total and interface applications that are toxic, corrosive, flammable, or high-pressure. It comes standard with a chamber of virtually any non-magnetic material, extruded process connections, a custom, engineered float, and all accessories with stainless steel construction. It is easy to install as a replacement for existing magnetic level gauges. (K-TEK)

Deepwater wellhead systems

The newest member of the MS-700 family of subsea wellheads is DMS-700. It provides for 5.3 million ft-lb of bending load capacity when used with the new DW HD H-4 subsea wellhead connector. It offers a high-capacity latch, up to 6 million lb, and it features a passive, double-tapered, socket-housing interface. It is pressure-rated to 15,000 psi. (ABB Vetco Gray)

Gauging tape

Designed for speed, simplicity and accuracy, the Flexi-Dip Trimode measures ullage, interface and temperature in a single dip through an MMC vapor control valve. The restricted and closed, portable gauging tape is ideal for both marine and land-based applications. (MMC International Corp.)

Personal gas detectors

There are three SensAir personal gas detectors for CO, H2S, and O2. The units are equipped with standard vibrating, light and sound alarms for both low and high alarm levels. The units are among the smallest and lightest available; hence, they can be clipped to a belt, shirt pocket or lapel, or mounted to a hard hat. All models have UL approval for intrinsic safety. The units can be returned to the factory for sensor and battery replacement after two years. (Sensidyne, Inc.)

AT-F thermostat

The DIN-rail-mounted AT-F Airstat is a digital, on/off thermostat designed primarily to act as an air-sensing thermostat, but it can also be adapted on site to detect surface temperatures. The AT-F requires no site calibration. It is a non-adjustable controller that energizes the heating circuit when the sensor temperature falls to +2_C. It then de-energizes the heating circuit when the sensor temperature rises above +5_C. The unit is supplied with a 3.5-m sensor lead and may alternately be sited remotely up to 100 m, and connected back to the unit via a suitable, earthed electric cable. (Heat Trace Ltd.)

Microprocessor-based relays

The SEL-300G provides unsurpassed protection, monitoring and control of electrical generators. This enhanced relay includes Modbus to meet the needs of a variety of users. Modbus communications make it easier to retrofit the SEL-300G into existing customer DCS. (Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories)
