Geophysical Directory, Inc. has published the 57th edition of its reference guide. The 2002 Geophysical Directory is completely revised, listing 6,015 companies and branch offices. It offers a worldwide reference to companies and key personnel that provide geophysical equipment supplies and services. Government agencies, along with other firms that utilize geophysical techniques, are included.

E&P services

Schlumberger has published a brochure detailing its products and services, including specific operations. Section topics are provided in the literature. These include acquiring better data for reservoir characterization, increasing hydrocarbon recovery using real-time information, integrating systems for enhanced performance and providing contingency plans for business continuity.

Riser, pipe inspection tool

ABB Vetco Gray has teamed up with Global Automated Systems and created RADAR—Riser Active Data Acquisition Recorder. This specially engineered, robotic, inspection tool is designed to traverse the interior diameter of metal pipe bodies, including riser tubes and choke and kill lines. It also provides real-time data acquisition and analysis of pipe. RADAR is a portable, economical and efficient means of internal pipe inspection that identifies defects based on specific rejection criteria. It also determines location, orientation, type and size of reportable flaws; video records the internal portion of the pipe, and presents data in a meaningful display. It also minimizes risks by placing marginal riser units in the string at less stressful locations.

Drilling lubricant

EzeSlide-OS is a non-sheening, soluble lubricant, with an extremely high attraction to metal surfaces. This metal affinity allows the bottom hole assembly and drill pipe to coat quicker than standard, water-soluble lubricants. Sun Drilling Products has published a brochure that explains the product’s potential to reduce the coefficient of friction that exists between drilling assembly, well bore, and casing. EzeSlide-OS reduces "weight stacking’ in highly deviated well bores, transferring more weight to the bit. This increases ROP, decreases torque and drag, and minimizes the problem of exiting or entering the hole.

Split case pumps

A brochure from Thompson Kelly & Lewis contains information about significant changes to the range of Super-Titan split-case pumps. There are details about several new sizes that have been added. The selection guide illustrates the extensive hydraulic coverage provided by the extended Super-Titan range. This is an important update for pump engineers and consultants.

Industrial vibration sensors

IMI Sensors, a PCP Piezotronics Division, has published a comprehensive catalog of industrial vibration monitoring instrumentation. Products featured include a full line of rugged accelerometers, 4-to-20-mA vibration transmitters, switch boxes, mounting accessories, and signal conditional equipment. New products include low-cost and swivel-mount ICP accelerometers, DIN-rail signal conditioners, DC response capacitive accelerometers and a panel-mount, vibration indicator/alarm.

Control valves

Leslie Controls has published its Control Valve handbook that details the complete product line of general and severe-service control valves. This includes linear, rotary, three-way and electric actuated valves with pressure ratings from ANSI 125 to ANSI 4500 class. Spec charts are provided, along with valve and actuator sizing data. Code selection allows readers to make detailed selections of the more appropriate products for specific applications.

Shaft couplings

A CD-ROM format catalog is available from Lovejoy. The literature details 11 categories of shaft-to-shaft power transmission couplings. An engineering data section features pre-selection criteria, charted for easy initial comparison of performance capabilities across all coupling lines; an illustrated tutorial explaining shaft misalignment; and formulas, equations and safety information. The CD also comes with installable Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 for Windows.

Gas leak detector

GAS HUNTER performs the functions of seven individual instruments. It provides a variety of solutions to maximize first response time. Not only does the equipment sniff out combustible gases from part per million levels to 100% by volume through auto-ranging, it also monitors ambient oxygen and carbon monoxide presence. This tool from Bacharach incorporates an operational pressure mode that measures 27 in. of water column and 10 in. of draft.

Instrumentation tools

United Electric Controls’ short-form catalog summarizes the firm’s electronic and electromechanical pressure, differential pressure and temperature switches, temperature sensors and pressure transducers. The literature includes the innovative, solid-state One Series—a two-wire pressure and temperature switch. This switch offers remote diagnostic and local display. An additional feature is a break-through, two-wire technology that allows it to be used as a drop in replacement for a mechanical switch in existing applications without additional wiring or modification.

Electric heaters, controllers

The expanded, 294-page, 2002 OGDEN catalog describes a comprehensive line of process heat and control products. The catalog contains more than 50 pages of engineering and technical information. Flexible, band, insertion, process, infrared and strip heaters are all described. Information on controls and sensors occupies about 60 pages.

Valves

Beric-Davis Companies International has published a brochure that describes its quality industrial valves. The valves are available in ferrous and nonferrous materials, as well as specialty alloys. They comply with API and many other industry standards. The Beric gate valve features outside yoke and bushing, bolted bonnet, flex wedge, and is hand-wheel-operated. The globe valve and check valve offer similar options.

Basket pipeline strainer

A brochure from Hayward Industrial Products describes the firm’s latest addition to its extensive line of pipeline strainers. Model 53BTX duplex basket strainer features a patented diverter cartridge that isolates and seals the basket chamber leak tight. Full-color photos illustrate the strainer’s standard and optional features, including a standard body vent on the strainer for quick, easy venting and an optional drain valve/pressure equalizing assembly. A technical information page contains dimensional information for all sizes of Model 53BTX from 3_4 in. to 4 in. The dimensional table shows measurements in inches and millimeters.

Pneumatic positioner

Kinetrol has published a full-color brochure that highlights all the components of the AP pneumatic positioner. The literature describes the benefits and function of each part. Key features are discussed on the "flap" of the brochure. This allows readers to view the positioner while noting its capabilities. Dimensional drawings and a specs summary provide detailed information.

Welding/cutting equipment

Lincoln Electric has published its redesigned 2002 product catalog that details its power sources, plasma cutters, robotics, consumables and other equipment. The literature has an easy-to-follow reference guide and is color-coded by product category. The selection guide shows each machine’s capabilities at a glance and allows for comparisons. The catalog features a new compact size that makes displaying, storing, handling and transporting easier.

Air Dryers

The domnick hunter Maxi PNEUDRI dryers provide duty/standby operation, complete pre-and-after-filtration and can be mounted on a compact skid for easy installation. Their modular, extruded aluminum design makes them about 60% smaller and lighter than conventional dryers. They are completely pneumatic in operation, and the local dew point indication is given via intrinsically safe barriers. The units comply with Zone 1 standards.
