Pressure release system

This annular pressure release system is a thin metallic disc built into the outer wall of the casing coupling. The newly patented system serves as a safety valve for relieving pressure caused by hot production fluids trapped within the casing annulus. The disc is calibrated to burst at a predetermined pressure and temperature threshold selected by the end user. The threshold can be set high enough to allow thorough well testing, but low enough to avoid collapsing the casing string or damage to the well. (Hunting Energy Services)

Chemical treatments

SurFlo Certified is a suite of chemistries that eliminates problems associated with deploying chemicals from offshore production facilities to subsea wellheads via umbilical delivery systems. It is designed for deepwater production by ensuring that chemical products are suitable for being pumped through umbilicals to the wellhead. For maximum results, they must be effective at low concentrations to inhibit corrosion and prevent scale, hydrate, asphaltene and/or paraffin deposits. They must also be stable at deepwater temperatures that are near freezing and downhole temperatures of 300F or higher. (Ondeo Nalco Energy Services)

BOP fluid

Stack Magic EV is a reformulated BOP fluid that provides superior lubrication, corrosion protection, biodegradation, and toxological properties for production and exploration equipment. It is environmentally safe and meets governmental requirements of Norway and the North Sea. It also has the highest listed environmental rating based on the Chemical Hazard Assessment and Risk Management model, which measures biodegradability. It improves corrosion protection and provides increased lubricity in subsea BOP stacks, as well as multiplexed and hydraulic control systems. Digital refractomer

Model DR-35-FL LCD accurately reads percent measurements of coolants, cutting and lubricating oils, quenchants and other industrial fluids. It has a measuring range of 0% to 35% with readability of 0.1%, making it an ideal instrument for applications requiring precision reading. The handheld, 8-oz. unit is used easily by placing a drop of solution on the sample, then pushing a button for instant LCD readout. (Kernco Instruments Co.)

Remote operation control

ROC809 combines into one package the ruggedness, low power consumption and broad communications capabilities of an RTU; the audit trails and historical data of a flow computer; and the scalability, speed and control of a PLC. The unit interfaces with a wide variety of field devices using low density I/O modules that plug into expansion tools, and it comes standard with a comprehensive applications package. Gas flow calculations use AGA 3 for orifice metering, AGA 7/ ISO 9951 for turbine metering, AGA 8/ ISO9951 for super compressibility, and it complies with API Chapter 21. Its comprehensive PID loop control is configurable for up to 16 control loops. The optional DS800 Development Suite lets users create custom control strategies using any of six programming languages. Wire feeder

Featuring a modular design that ensures easy replacement of components during servicing, LN-15 comes in a lightweight, impact / abrasion-resistant case surrounded by a full-metal roll cage. It is available in two models – Across the Arc and Control Cable. The Across the Arc model features a built-in contactor and is ideal for fast set up and simple welding operations. The Control Cable model is capable of STT welding. Both models are capable of MIG welding functions, including pulse MIG procedures. They come standard with an internal adjustable flowmeter to monitor and change gas flowrate for MIG processes. Pressure transmitter

Series 679 is ideal for applications such as offshore oil and natural gas pipelines. It measures pressures with an accuracy of ±0.25% full scale. The unit provides a field adjustable 4-mA to 20-mA output signal, and has a supply voltage of 9 to 30 VDC. It features an aluminum NEMA 4 weatherproof enclosure and stainless steel wetted parts for compatibility. It has an operating temperature range of -40F to 260F, a compensated temperature range of -4F to 176F. Pressure ranges from 0 to 10,000 psi. (Dwyer Instruments, Inc.)

Protocol translators

FS-B2010-01 is a protocol translator designed to interface other protocols to Modbus RTU or TCP, making it easy to link Modbus devices to Ethernet. The tool allows any device equipped with Modbus to be accessible plantwide. The Gateway is a true protocol translator and not simply a tunneling device; thus, only one Gateway is needed to link a device to Modbus.
