WESTERN EUROPEAustriaActivity centered on enhancing mature fields in the Vienna basin. OMV drilled five exploration wells and one appraisal in 2000 on the basis of 3-D seismic results. Operator RAG drilled six oil / gas wells, plus two dry holes. Increased use of EOR methods and successful development of recent finds reportedly lifted production to 14 MMboe in 2000, or 38,500 boepd, the highest level since 1980. The government, however, in its year-end 2000 report, said oil and gas production in 2000 averaged 19,228 bopd and 172.1 MMcfd. |
