LAGCOE Thursday Keynote - A brave new world: Drilling in the new energy future

The drilling industry stands at a period of unprecedented change and disruption. In LAGCOE’s keynote address on Thursday morning, Kevin Krausert will walk through a history of energy technology and transitions while illuminating the lessons it teaches us to help build a brave, new energy future for the drilling industry. A particular focus will be made on The Avatar Program, the ground-breaking collaboration between Beaver Drilling, the University of Calgary, 5 major E&P’s and the aerospace company Virgin Galactic accelerating new technology and new business models in the drilling industry.

Kevin Krausert is the President & CEO of Beaver Drilling, Canada’s largest privately-owned drilling contractor. With more than 15 years of experience in the drilling industry, Kevin has worked through a variety of roles in industry, from roustabout to executive. Kevin is the co-founder of The Avatar Program, an industrywide collaboration between E&Ps, tech companies and the University of Calgary to bring new technology and AI into the drilling industry.
