(WO) – The Energy Workforce and Technology Council announced the launch of the SecureWell: Well Control Certification Course, signaling the industry’s newly revitalized efforts to address the specifics of well control, operation, security and safety.

SecureWell’s mission is to provide industry standards for effective equipment selection and purpose-drive practical well control training for cased hole applications. The certification course will serve as the premiere training program for well containment and control for cased hole well servicing. Designed to create a comprehensive base of knowledge and understanding, participants will be able to later bridge their knowledge to operations-specific training.

SecureWell is the first industry training to teach proper selection, installation and use of primary barriers when working in a live hydrocarbon environment. Unlike other programs of its kind, the SecureWell course requires both classroom training and hands-on practical field assessment and skills verification, giving participants a comprehensive knowledge of the cased hole well operations process.

“Enhancing the safety and security of cased holes is critical to our growth as an industry. As the industry continues to innovate, defining best practices will help streamline processes and ensure the safety of the men and women working in the field. We are grateful to our membership for their dedication in seeing this program through from conception,” said Energy Workforce & Technology Council President Molly Determan.

SecureWell is created by well control and well servicing experts, including Axis Energy Services, Brigade Energy Services, C&J Well Services, ClearWell Dynamics, KeyEnergy Services and Ranger Energy Services.
