HOUSTON – Following IHS Markit’s cancellation of its CERAWeek conference in Houston, several other organizers of major oil and gas industry events have followed suit in the wake of the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Organizers of the Offshore Technology Conference, however, said this week that, for now at least, the show will go on.

“We are actively monitoring the potential impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus on our activities and currently do not anticipate making any change in plans to OTC.  As the situation evolves, the health and safety of event attendees, exhibitors, and OTC staff will be our highest priority and guide any decisions that we make,” the organizers of the event wrote in a statement on their website.

In 2019, the Offshore Technology Conference celebrated its 50th anniversary, welcoming approximately 50,000 speakers, exhibitors and attendees to Houston’s NRG Center in the first week of May.
