Equinor granted drilling permit for Cape Vulture appraisal wells

STAVANGER -- The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Equinor Energy AS a drilling permit for wells 6608/10-18, 6608/10-18 A and 6608/10-18 B, cf. Section 15 of the Resource Management Regulations.

Wells 6608/10-18, 6608/10-18 A and 6608/10-18 B will be drilled from the Songa Encourage drilling facility, at position 66°6'9.52" North and 8°4'23.19" East.

The drilling program for wells 6608/10-18, 6608/10-18 A and 6608/10-18 B relates to the drilling of appraisal wells in production license 128 D. Equinor Energy AS is the operator with an ownership interest of 63.95%. The other licensees are Petoro AS (24.55%) and Eni Norge AS (11.5%). The area in this license consists of the western part of Block 6608. The wells are being drilled to delineate the Cape Vulture discovery, about 8 km north of Norne field.

Production license 128 D was awarded on Feb. 5, 2016 in APA 2015 on the Norwegian shelf. Well 6608/10-18 is the first well to be drilled within the license.

The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing drilling activities.
